The RNC bought 95,000 in bulk.
Of course, this isn't the first time bulk purchase has shot a book to the top of the Times' list. It's happened before, several times, in both the fiction and non-fiction Best Seller categories. Bulk purchases are easily discovered, as a normal best-seller has a predictable process it goes through from the publisher to the readers.
The Times makes a note on it's list of the books that have been bulk purchased. It's a symbol, similar to the * mark baseball uses as to qualify a player's record is in dispute. Triggered has this mark. The Trumps didn't like that at all, and neither did the RNC.
This purchase is likely to be the only one for the book, so as I said before, let's just wait and see. If it is a real-deal best seller, the book will drop from the #1 spot but will remain on the top 10, where it will go up and down for a while.
Any book on the Top 10 that lasts for more than 6 weeks- around a month or more- is an actual best-seller, where individual readers seek out and purchase the book.
The really popular books on the Top 10 aren't often #1. When a book reaches #3 or #4 and stays there for months, that's a much bigger book. Some non-fiction remains on the Top 10 for years.
