This is a very interesting article about Don Junior. When he was 12 years old, he did not speak to his father for a year, blaming him for the divorce from Ivana.

The RNC spent $95,000 on his book. Bought 'em in bulk.

Well, he, Ivanka and Eric all seem to compete for their father's attention, which isn't surprising because Daddy was pretty much an absent parent during their childhood years.

This is an interesting article, explaining that Don Jr.'s book is a bestseller, even after taking away the bulk sales:

Of course, since the article is on CNN, I expect the Trumper's to proclaim it fake news. One must be consistent.

So has anyone here on C-D actually read this book and care to share his or her thoughts on the actual content?

I rarely ever see reviews that high for books and products on Amazon.

Here is one such view that got a high rating.

I didn't have crayons to finish it.

Of course, since the article is on CNN, I expect the Trumper's to proclaim it fake news. One must be consistent.
The CNN article bases everything it says on the RNC paying list price for the books. The list price is $30.00. It also mentions the possibility the RNC only paid 50% of the list price.

In the publishing world, the list price is always higher than the common sale price. The big bookstores always offer books like this at 20% off the list as a sales tool. The cost to the store is less than half of that discounted price.
So the actual cost of the book that a retail customer would pay isn't $30. It's $24. The store paid $12 for the book in a bulk purchase.
In the chain stores like Barnes & Noble, the corporate headquarters does the buying and pays the freight and the books are distributed by anticipated sales.

Internet sales are a completely different duck as well. So are books that are sold at author's book signings. Each has it's own price structure.

Publishers don't always sell their books to only retailers. Anyone who ponies up the money can buy them in bulk at the $12. price, and on a single huge order, the price would be a little less than that if the order was FOB.

The entire principle is to sell the book while it's hot because it won't be hot for very long.
They have to move a topical book out as fast as possible because there's always another one that will take its place next week.

Once the book cools down, stores will sell it at a 40%-60% discount to get rid of the remnants and still make some money on every copy.

Every brick and mortar store can only shelve and store so many books at once, and they all have to move to make anyone money.

It's weird then Lena Dunham hadn't tried the same trick to have her book "Not that kind of girl" to be #1 like Don Jr's book instead of topping only at #2 in 2014. Some of Lena's admirers hadn't swallowed that news well.
