And they end up just like the shooter did. It's not that you can't "mess with Texas", it's that it's not easy to do and there are quite often serious consequences if you manage.

Most places, that same guy takes out at least half a dozen people and creates a video of him having his way with defenseless victims. In this instance, he just got himself killed in 2 seconds and his video will serve as a warning to others who might try similar things.

Texas also has more victims of drunk drivers.

Oh wait...Texas also has about a gazillion more people than most other states and is the size of four or five states. PER CAPITA Texas is smack dab in the middle of the country's state by state drunk driver victim figures.

Oh and look at this - Texas is also quite average when it comes to gun deaths per capita:
