That is using it for medicinal purposes. The ingredients in marijuana which provide some medicinal benefits can always be chemically synthesized, so you can benefit from them without getting stoned. And most importantly, without having to inhale smoke into your lungs (see post 312).

The only people who benefit (very minimally) from smoking “medical” marijuana are those with wasting diseases like AIDS or advanced cancer.

The stigma from marijuana is practically all gone. it's not viewed like it was years ago. I remember in the 80's how bad the stigma was from it.

Sure, and how else did the D.A.R.E. program lie to you?

It’s available and effective for mere anxiety.

It lowers inflammation in the body.

The difference in my book is that, barring any additional activity like driving, a person drinking isn't affecting others around them. Smoking does.

Additionally, the effects of drinking do not affect the user nearly as long.

Drunk driving is the only negative you can come up with? How about its link to violent behavior, for starters.

Effects of edibles can last a couple hours, but smoking? Much shorter impact than being drunk. Not to mention no hangover the following morning.
