No, he actually frees his slaves during the civil war.
Lee inherited some two hundred slaves via a will that stipulated they be freed in 5 years.
He was far from a benevolent slave owner.
He tried several times to get the will changed, but was unsuccessful. Finally,
"on December 29, 1862, Lee officially freed the enslaved workers and their families on the estate, coincidentally three days before the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect."
Removing Confederate Statues isn't going to bother me. But...could this turn into a slippery slope where next thing you know they go after George Washington simply because he owned slaves. That's what I think many white Americans worry about more than actual confederate statues.
Same here, I could care less about the statues, it's just that you know it will never be enough. Same people are going after the USA period. Want to destroy it and sell it off to China. And when that happens, you might as well take affirmative action and all that other crap and toss it out the window because Chinese are very prejudice against anyone not like them, or don't have money.

The strangest place I've seem a confederate flag is a huge one on I-95 heading to Fort Bragg.
Now that the statues are being moved, will there be even more Confederate flags?
That's a new thing for the "Heritage Groups" (think sons of the confederacy) in Virginia they are called the Virginia Flaggers and their goal to to raise these giant confederate flags on "private property" along interstates. The last one here was ordered taken down because the height exceeded county zoning laws.
I used to live in Georgia. I did work for the state at one time. I would not want a day off if it was dedicated to Robert E. Lee. And I don't see any reason to celebrate him.
And get this. The majority of African-Americans are southerners. The South is where a majority of African-Americans live. I don't see African-Americans saluting Confederates or referring to the Confederate flag as part of their southern heritage. Ask yourself why that it. By the way, come up with a better answer than "Blacks are brainwashed by the left".
Not that I don't see your point but what about George Washington and Jefferson, they were slave owners.
Do all Washington streets around the country get renamed? Does DC get a new name?
That is essentially what it is. A monument to white supremacy. That is what the Confederate cause was about. It was about keeping Blacks enslaved. It's in the Articles of Secession, the Cornerstone Speech, and the Confederate Constitution. It's in the original documents.
Now the Democratic Party is keeping blacks enslaved.
No, it will be history to remind us not to let those ideologies rise again...
Too late.
Have you not been paying attention to what the left is going for these days?
Hope you enjoy socialism.
