The nutters keep screaming, "Herd Immunity! Herd Immunity!" but --assuming "herd immunity" is a real thing -- you need no less than 90% of your population to have been infected.

You haven't even had 1% of your population infected yet.

In case you just don't get it, 1% ≠ 90% and 1% < 90%.

It'll probably be 10 years before even 50% of your population has been infected.

You made a noble heroic effort to stop the spread but you failed miserably.

COVID-19 will spread all Summer long and you can't stop it. Come Fall, it will blow up in your face again.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat
for the next who knows how many years until 90% of your population has been infected and assuming "herd immunity" is a real thing and actually works.

So, the fiasco you just went through was all in vain, because your government didn't do it the right way.

To do it the right way takes a bit of planning, which your government is not capable of doing on any level so you're just going to have to deal with it.
Herd immunity is a fact, and the percent of the population needed to be immune to produce it varies with how infectious the virus is. For SARS-CoV-2 that is probably 60 to 70%. We will not get there without a vaccine.

Good luck with that. Look at the national polls, and one right here on CD, how many will get a vaccine as soon as one comes on the market. With all the protests, and states re-opening, how many people are voluntarily locking themselves up in their homes until a vaccine (300M doses?) is approved? That might be an interesting poll.

I’ll take the vaccine if it’s proven safe and effective in research: not an experimental one used in trials. Too risky if the outcome could be worse than Covid as I’m in a low risk age group.

I am not but this vaccine is rushed. It takes years before vaccine normally gets approved and shown it is safe. All corners are being cut with his vaccine
