[LEFT]Some really bad numbers but haven't heard hospitals overwhelmed.
Quote:
New infections are trending upward in at least 21 states across the South and West, prompting some governors to rethink reopening plans and renewing concerns that the country could be a long way from containing the pandemic. Alabama, Oregon and South Carolina are among the states with the biggest increases. Alabama saw a 92 percent change in its seven-day average, while Oregon’s seven-day average was up 83.8 percent and South Carolina’s was up 60.3 percent.
or, if we're trying to say that "Texas is doing it wrong":
There's the reading comprehension problem you accused me of...
btw.. the number of people entering and traveling through NYC is far larger than any city... something like 1.6 million people enter the city daily and that doesn't include international travel. Using NYC as a basis for argument is asinine... or simply you don't realize the factors are at play here when it comes to the transmission rate of NYC. You are choosing to compare an unique outlying data point to prove a baseless point.
I grew up in the Houston, Tx and worked several years in Dallas area and moved to the NYC area 20 years ago. Still have family and make visits often. (Hence why I know that the rise of the covid situation started before the protests) It doesn't even come close to a comparison.... Even at a glance, one realizes that almost everyone has their own car and probably pass by a handful of people daily that can possibly pass something to me. When i worked NYC, I must pass, sit, stand, packed next to 100s of strangers by the time i make it home. Anyone of those people can be a transmission.
Bama saw individual hospitals overrun about a week ago. Texas is seeing that a bit too. Arizona isn't that far off from that point. The problem is the Republican governors feel it is better to stick their heads in the sand because they need the economy to reopen than do the right thing and cut back on the re-opening phases. The phase system was always intended to be a step back if there was an issue or take step forwards if your state is fine.

You cannot hide from COVID-19.
COVID-19 is now part of your life, not going away, and you'll have to deal with Corona Season alongside Flu Season for the next 2-5 years at least so let's dispense with the bull-****.
The nutters keep screaming, "Herd Immunity! Herd Immunity!" but --assuming "herd immunity" is a real thing -- you need no less than 90% of your population to have been infected.
You haven't even had 1% of your population infected yet.
In case you just don't get it, 1% ≠ 90% and 1% < 90%.
It'll probably be 10 years before even 50% of your population has been infected.
You made a noble heroic effort to stop the spread but you failed miserably.
COVID-19 will spread all Summer long and you can't stop it. Come Fall, it will blow up in your face again.
Lather, Rinse, Repeat for the next who knows how many years until 90% of your population has been infected and assuming "herd immunity" is a real thing and actually works.
So, the fiasco you just went through was all in vain, because your government didn't do it the right way.
To do it the right way takes a bit of planning, which your government is not capable of doing on any level so you're just going to have to deal with it.

Yes so we have no choice but to shut ourselves at home forever. Unless of course you want to go and “protest” over felons
Daily report of businesses shutting down as employees (not old people in nursing homes) are testing positive and showing symptoms of COVID here in Charleston SC.
So no don't shut yourself in your home but don't kid yourself about what is happening.
Covid doesn't care about politics. Some protesters will catch it. Some people who ignore social distancing and mask use will catch it.
