I wouldn't necessarily say that. NO ONE is going to NYC or the Pacific NW violent hot spots on vacation, either.

Again CONGRESS in particular the HOUSE controls nation's purse strings.
You should take some time to read the National Emergencies Act. He has the authority.

I think we still need to see some details.

Also, everyone - well, Democrats - is saying that we need to overpay people to stay unemployed because of the high UE rate. Well, first, one of the reasons it is staying high is BECAUSE people are being paid more to not take jobs. But second, the UE rate is now 10.2%, just a hair more than it was when it peaked in 2009/10, and there was NO extra money back then.
Excellent point!

While I agreed that this is bad, but when you have local government charging business owners to make a living for them and their employees, what choice do these people have?

Many businesses that was closed temporary will be closed permanently. Many landlords haven't get their rent because of businesses are not making a profit.

Many of my friends and I are fortunately can work from home, but not everyone can.

If you are not going to vote Trump, vote 3rd party or write in. This country REALLY need a 3rd or 4th party. I have been sick and tire of this 1 head 2 parties system for many years.

I hope there is an option to refuse the payroll tax holiday gimmick because I sure as hell don't want to have to pay 4-5 months of that back next April.

It'll be fun to see the lawsuits over this.

From what it seems, the unilateral extension of the unemployment benefits are on pretty shakey legal ground. And anyone with standing to sue to get that struck down will likely prevail, but President Trump seems to acknowledge this. Still, politically, it is a smart move by Trump as he can throw up his hands and say he tried.

As for the payroll tax holiday, I am always in favor of keeping more of my money.
Pelosi and Schumer say its "meager" but their problem with the low bar is they couldn't get over it !!!

Meager is their effort to reach agreement and get people relief during a crisis !!!

Trump is doing the dance. Trying to hand out with the election hanging over him.

Somebody needs to explain what payroll tax pays for and where we will get that money if we do give a tax holiday for payroll.

I suspect Trump doesn't have a clue.

This and this.

Politically, he's made three solid moves last week or two, and as someone already pointed out, he's taken a serious bite out of the DNC talking points. He's doing things that get him favorable support and also are almost immune to Democrat criticism because they are rank socialist welfare state opportunism, which is supposed to be THEIR stock in trade.

From an electioneering standpoint, he's calling the right plays. From a freedom, individualism, I hate tyranny standpoint, he's a vulgarian tyrant.

The real issue is Why can't Congress get their sh*t together? It's their job and they refuse to do it. Now they need to go on vacation so they can work on being re-elected which is apparently much more important to them.

The GOP party is fractured. There is a % of them that wanted NO deal, a % that wanted something.. They dug in deep on $1T.

The Democrats came in asking for the candy store and more- $3+T which is obscene. However they were willing to negotiate to $2T.

They may still come up with a deal.
