Agreed, but how long will it take the courts? A few days or a few months?
If it goes all way to SCOTUS a decision wouldn't be reached on all or any of these EO actions until way into 2021 or maybe afterwards. Much depends upon if or when legal challenges begin, and what action lower courts take.
It is possible after a lower court ruling to appeal directly to SCOTUS when matter is deemed urgent enough; but it is for court to decide whether the thing is indeed that much of an emergency to warrant bypassing natural order of things.
Off the bat first major question is who will sue DT and or has legal standing to do so.
Let's see how the lefties react since he's taken a bite out of their talking points. Looks like he's giving most of everything the left wants. The left will hate him even more for it.
The left wanted to continue the $600, the right wanted it reduced to $200. Seems like $400 is a smart compromise and move. Keep in mind this is above the regular unemployment.
Turns out the $400 is actually $300 Federal money, and he's asking the states to chip in $100 per person.
I just saw that (I saw him say it on a YouTube video). Even assuming this executive order was legal (I think not, the president does not have the unilateral spending authority), few if any states have the $100.00 per week that they could apply as their co-pay. I know my state doesn't have it, certainly no red states have it, probably none of the states do.
So effectively, this is a big zero. It's nothing at all. Back to square one.
