There can be no EO on a stimulus check. Would be illegal. That's for Congress (Pelosi) to authorize. (There is a "cash" outlay, involved)

The EO providing the $400.00 is utilizing money already authorized under the first stimulus, that has yet to be used.

Payroll tax suspension, student loan deferment, eviction/foreclosure holiday doesn't cost anything "upfront" (no cash outlay) so they are legal under an emergency EO

Yes, Dems can still negotiate to provide the $1200.00 stimulus check. It's time for the DEMentiaCRATS to put up, or shut up.

I going to assume you mean the Dem's. So where is the conservative outrage about the stimulus payments? I see plenty of my "conservative" republican family members getting checks, when they don't even need them.

My brother is staunch, died-in-wool republican. He makes well north of $100K per year, and hasn't lost any income due to the COVID-19 crisis. But since he files jointly with his wife, during the first stimulus round he qualified for a $2400 check, which he received. And because he has 4 kids, he got an extra $2000. And he already got a tax deduction by claiming those kids as dependants. Of course he didn't complain or try to give the money back. Now, he's in line for a another government payout which he doesn't need.

Many of senior relatives are retired, drawing from retirement accounts and social security. They didn't lose their jobs because they were already retired. Yet they all received the government stimulus handouts. And they were bitching about not receiving more. They are all opposed to the democratic party, since the democrats just want to give lazy people money. And they all plan to vote for Trump again,

It's bizzaro world.
Not really. Republicans are as big a fan of handouts as anyone, if not more so, as long as it's not called a handout.

Yeah, right. You wish.

Good, we didn't need your vote.

UE under obama seemed to go on for 8 years or so. Isn't 400/ the going rate? It's a hell of a lot better than 600 per.

Anything Trump can cram down Pelosi and Schumer's throats is a good thing, those impotent wastes of flesh.

Feds cannot force states to pay an extra $100/week. That's not up to the feds. Each state would have to agree.

Yep. But President Trump will take credit for authorizing them to do so, nevertheless.

He is clearly a very clever man.

From what I'm getting out of this, Trump is leaving the UE benefit decision to the states. The money is available and the states can decide if they want to take it.
