Yes, because this is exactly where spending bills are supposed to originate. You've heard of that little piece of paper called the Constitution, right?
Wait, what?
So you agree that is where spending bills are supposed to originate. Yet, they aren't. Thoughts about that?
Trump Signs Executive Orders As Coronavirus Stimulus Talks Falter; Extends Unemployment Benefits At $400 Per Week. Also eviction notice and defers student loan suspension payroll...
The problem is, the benefits aren’t authorized by the Employment and Training Administration. There is no system currently in place anywhere to carry out the EO, and it might take a few months to create one. The $400 is only covered 75% by the federal government, and the states would have to pick up the difference. Not to mention the fact, the EO may not even be legal, since Congress holds the purse strings of the country, and will likely be challenged in court, leading to more delay. A lot of people are going to be out in the street hungry before they ever realize a nickel from this hairbrained scheme.
More political posturing, smoke and mirrors, and outright lies from 45. No more than we expected from a desperate man.
Oh, they'll be swooning and singing his praises, they'd probably be shocked to actually read the Constitution and learn who's awarded the national purse strings.
HINT: It ain't the POTUS.
SHHH! Don't spoil their fun. They think Big Orange actually did something right for a change.
Gonna be a political bloodbath when 30 million families are sitting on the curb and finally wake up and realize they've been hoodwinked. Again.
So the Democrats are going to go to court to block the extension of unemployment benefits by President Trump, less than three months before a national election.
You really cannot make this stuff up. If they actually do it, that is.
Not necessarily the Democrats. An anti-Trump Republican or Independent filing a lawsuit would do nicely. It’s settled law.
My business is closed by state order. My employees need everything they can get and so do I. BTW I don't get those stimulus checks despite the fact my current income is -$17k (negative $17,000/month) per month because my PAST income was over $75k. But those who are working (like you) as normal get a check. THAT'S what's f'ed up.
