Exactly. It effectively ends the fed paying unemployment at all. Few if any states will be able to meet the additional contribution requirement.

The sticking point was always the payroll tax. He put up staw mans for the other areas of the negotiations.

Without the payroll tax and coronavirus, the deficit would be 15 percent of GDP.

The Fed needs to stop doing QE. That is enabling politicians like Trump and big business to think they can get a free lunch, or even better, a lunch where they get paid to eat. The fake right and the fake left both want the central bank to underwrite all of the costs.

You're the one supporting a liberal candidate...

This thread is about social welfare handouts signed by our liberal President.

If not liberal, what does one that supports liberal candidates and policy make you?

In due time, we'll have a conservative in the Whitehouse again. It may be 4 years from now, it may be 8... but this liberal disaster will come to an end.

The left wanted to continue the $600, the right wanted it reduced to $200. Seems like $400 is a smart compromise and move. Keep in mind this is above the regular unemployment.
I don’t mind the $400. I just question whether he has the authority. Only Congress can appropriate spending.

I also don’t understand his obsession with the payroll tax deferral. Who does that help? Unemployed people don’t pay payroll tax. It won’t stimulate the economy: it’s not that people don’t have any money to spend, it’s that they can’t spend it when everything is shut down.

What land mines?

It’s another worthless EO.

Congress controls the purse strings. EO can’t be used for new spending.

It’s not a requirement states have to meet. He doesn’t have a say in their spending.

Because I’m sure he’ll save a bundle.

It’s great for employers padding their pockets. It’s pretty ineffective at stimulating the economy.

Does he have the authority? Nah, but its politically brilliant ESPECIALLY if Pelosi and Schumer sue him over this, that shows the American people would prefer illegals to get aid before them since that's what has caused the negotiations to break down AND if a judge stops it Trump can say see folks! Gotta reelect me to get these leftist judges OUT and some real judges in their place.

One huge problem is that apparently a lot of Liberals don’t know understand what socialism is. Sad.

Liberals confuse socialism and social welfare. Trump did not push for socialism here... but he is pushing for liberal social welfare handouts. Either way, liberals win... and it's impressive, yet concerning, that liberals have Trump enacting liberal policy (well, not exactly policy) via executive order. We need to get these liberals out of the whitehouse.
