God help us.
It was Alinsky’s directions as to how to destroy capitalism and install socialism: first destroy the economy.

There’s a famous quote from one of the founding fathers (that I cannot now locate) that warns that America will be destroyed not by foreign enemies but from the enemies within. We are seeing it happen before our eyes.

What we have been doing isn't working. Trump's plan was to ignore, downplay and dismiss. Even now, we see his staff knowingly going out and spreading the virus (Mark Meadows); we see him and many in his entourage ignoring the mask protocol at Arlington yesterday. This is on Trump.

Many, like myself, are simply going to wait this out before we start major home improvement projects - who wants the possibility of infected people working in their homes? The "destruction" of the economy is on Trump for his failure to address this early on. Hopefully we will not enter a situation like we did where I live in 1918 where so many people were sick, they could not dig graves, prisoners had to work on farms, farm workers were so sick, and phone exchanges had to close. Now we don't have PBX operators anymore, but with over 100,000 new cases a day, who knows when the ability to get a repair person out will be affected?

To blame lockdowns on democrats is ignoring the reality of the situation. In many respects VA and MD have been working in tandem, yet MD with its GOP governor has had more restricts and greater fines than VA. We never shut down our big box stores, small businesses were allowed to stay open with the exception of those which involve close contact such as spas or food handling. Only a handful of bars and restaurants were closed due to repeated warnings of violations.

So you think the President should prescribe to VA and MD how they must run things? All 50 States?

This is how Australia got back to near normal. They could have just let it go like we did but they took an adult approach. Of course it`s easier for them to control their borders but the people were asked to sacrifice and they did. Instead of whining about their rights and trying to intimidate politicians with their weapons they sacrificed for the good of their country. That`s what patriotic people do.

The State of Victoria and more importantly its largest city Melbourne had strict lockdown measures. Also one needs to remember that the seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere and the temperatures might be factor in the spread of COVID19. One can't really compare the USA and Australia in terms of population.

Joe this is why we don’t want you for president. We dont need to shutdown and lose everything leave us alone!
The left shrieked for four years about Trump being a dictator. Biden hasn't even secured the election, and he's already going full on dictator.

Good luck with that Joe. You may go down in history as being the second President to spark a civil war.

He also talked about paying businesses to do so. Funny no one is talking about that. I watched the interview.

With over 1000 people dying a day, soon projected to be 2000, and hospitals overflowing in so many areas, businesses are suffering anyway. You have to get the virus under control or the economy is screwed.

I posted this in the other thread:

Right now in my area cases have been tied to the following things:

- Youth sports teams, particularly travel soccer & travel hockey tournaments
- Parent-hosted non-school parties (e.g. Homecoming dance at a house, a Halloween party)
- House parties
- An afterwork gatherings from back-of-the-house service industry employees from a few local restaurants

Take that, then spread it to parents and then the children spreading it to other children.
The schools finally went remote this week.

The cases are not from workplaces, manufacturing facilities, or even in-classroom situations.

The cases now are coming from private gatherings, nothing that any government can really "mandate" or "shutdown".

I'm not sure what the end game is, but shutting down the economy again isn't going to solve these issues.

Dr said lockdown is the best way.

There is no universal definition of lockdown.

He is one of 13 on the transition committee.

It’s an advisory committee with zero authority.

POTUS does not have the authority to “ lockdown” the country.

Governors and local governments impose restrictions, or not.

It’s all about attempting to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed.

Back in March, the WH issued guidelines to reduce the spread. #1 was to listen to and follow directions of local authorities. It was the Federal guidelines regarding distancing that compelled most states to issue restrictions.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/...s-slow-spread/

Nearly every state has some regional restrictions in place, right now.

Complete garbage.

Businesses are going under because of the SHUT DOWN, not the virus. The virus is 99% recoverable.

Sixty percent of businesses have closed permanently because of the SHUT DOWN. Kids are losing years of their lives to the SHUT DOWN. Depression and substance abuse is rampant thanks to the SHUT DOWN.
