Lt. Zimmerman’s testimony today potentially sealed manslaughter charges against Chauvin. The words “totally unnecessary” will stick. And we got confirmation that his excessive use of force violated department policy. It wasn’t just a departure. It was a violation.
The defense seemed resigned and was particularly weak in the cross. They have done nothing to show Chauvin followed department procedures, which forms a necessary and vital part of their defense based on their opening.
I appreciate Lt. Zimmerman for speaking up and speaking the truth.
That's conventional notion of justice. This is why everybody bear arms and nations have nuclear weapons.
No, a lot of people bear arms because they don't understand what the Second Amendment really means. As far as having nuclear weapons, what does that have to do with justice? And what does bearing arms have to do with justice except maybe vigilante justice or people prancing around looking like fools with guns draped all over themselves.

Yup.. I agree. A senior officer that testified yesterday also said the same thing.
I don't think either had any choice.... anything less would have called the department's procedures and other officers in question.

Justice is in the eyes of the beholder. Some are on the side of felons while others are on the side of law enforcement.

I hope to hell justice isn't in the eye of the beholder, but is in the eye of the rule of law. Of course, I know there are those who refuse to accept that.
Is there any sort of "schedule" for the Chauvin trial? Might it last a few weeks? A few months? Before the lawyers' arguments are finished and it goes to the jury?
If the standard for convicting Chauvin was 'could' the action he took kill someone, the trial would be over in 10 minutes. Guilty. The question is did his action kill Floyd, beyond a reasonable doubt.
The state (prosecution) needs to prove only that Chauvin’s actions “contributed to the death,” Judge Peter A. Cahill has written, not that they were the “sole cause of death.”
