Yes, it does seem a long shot that these novice pilots hit the towers first try without an ILS to lock onto and autopilot control.
1) they weren't novices. 2 of them were commercially licensed, 1 of them was a military pilot, 1 learned to fly, but iddn't have his license before coming to America.
2) what truthers like to lie about saying that they weren't good pilots was that 2 of them couldn't speak ENGLISH very well. In order to get a pilots license you needed to speak English and read it well (English is the WORLD accepted language in AVIATION)
3) They had to hit buildings that were the size of a football field in width. Not that hard of a target.
4) The pentagon is the size of two football fields and 4 stories tall....not that hard to hit, if you knew how to fly toward it

There was test back in 2005, when the original claims of "a novice couldn't hit those buildingS!" came up. So they put 5 people in the cockpits of simulators and had them take over when the plane took off. All 5 of them were able to hit the towers.
Microsoft's Flight Simulator program had the WTC towers (forget which version). And many amateur video gamers, tried their chance, and were able to hit the towers.

There is only one true conspiracy theory, the one provided by the government. So we are told. Apparently only a bunch of box cutter wielding Arabs could pull a conspiracy on the mightiest Empire under the Sun. Imperial government (and its multiple agencies) are not capable of masterminding a simplest conspiracy because, ... because only Arabs and terrorists can do it.
It doesn't take entire Federal Government to demolish the towers, it just takes a few "agencies" (or even agents) to keep a blind, guiding eye on the ignorant? forces & people they used to do the job.

Sorry, what the Government illustrated was an unproven conspiracy THEORY in which bunch of Arabs (hating our freedoms, naturally) masterminded an evil plot unnoticed by the intelligence of the most advanced nations. It doesn't hold the water. Al Qaeda, a child of CIA has bitten the feeding hand out of sudden, no warning signs. Amazing.

10,000 participants it's an estimate of whom? I don't think you need 10,000 people to "overlook" a thing or two. After all, according to government spokespeople "Amount of contradicting information prevented multibillion National Security Establishment from apprehending evil doers". Neither you or me have a clue how many people does it take to label information "contradicting" and take no action, but I doubt it's 10,000 people. I doubt it takes 10,000 people to suggest the idea into the right & eager ears.

Stop, if there are no ways to keep conspiracies secret, maybe conspiracies are just that - a fiction, conspiracies can never be because, as you say, it takes a lot of people to keep all of that a secret. Ahhhh....I can help you with the Microsoft Flight Simulator question as I have been flying it since the mid-90s and many other sims as well going back to Bruce Artwick's FSII in the 80s
Flight Simulator 2000 was the last version with the towers. Back in those days, MS released a new FS version in the fall every 2 years and FS2002 was due for release mid-September 2001. It was days away when 911 happened and Microsoft made a decision at that time to postpone the release so that the towers could be removed from the Manhattan scenery database. Since that time, there have been downloadable scenery add-ons made available for those who want to restore the towers to the NY simming, but Microsoft's default versions starting with FS2002 have reflected the reality of them being gone.
In the interest of fairness, so as to curb exaggeration on either side of the argument, the towers were only 208' in width. So only about 2/3rds of a football field, but still very hittable by a skilled pilot on a clear day.
Do you have a link elaborating on the terrorist pilot backgrounds? I don't recall ever hearing that 2 were commercially licensed and 1 military.
