Goes to show how much difference disarming the populace can make.

A person can buy a gun in either European country, but it's not nearly as easy there as it is here.

I'm not saying it's bad or good that it's so easy to obtain a firearm here, but the ease contributes to our homicide rate.

It's up to the individual as to whether they think it's bad, good, or indifferent.

Or have you checked the huge increase since BLM started. How many more thousands are killed because of less policing. And treating criminals like victims.

Or you think this is because there are somehow more guns.

Memphis has been a violent city for a very long time. It was one of America's murder capitals in the 1930s. In 1932, Memphis had a homicide rate of 43.3 murders per 100,000. For a city of 253,143 people at the time, there were 102 murders.

My source: https://memphispolice.org/wp-content...PD-History.pdf

Memphis has been even worse than that.

Murder rate for Memphis in 1916 was 89.9 murders per 100,000. For the 1910s decade, Memphis had a homicide rate of 47.1 per 100,000. Memphis has been a rough city for a very long time.

It looks like we need:

1. Gun laws similar to the UK and Italy
2. Social welfare policies similar to the UK and Italy

It's really funny the way the OP rants against liberals in one thread, but in another thread (unwittingly) makes a great case for more liberalism!

Vermont has one of the lowest murder rates in the country. On average, it gets about 9-11 murders per year. The problem is the culture of violence that has long permeated Memphis, and to a certain extent Mississippi.

And Switzerland is one of the few "shall issue" countries in terms of getting guns. It has a murder rate lower than Italy or the UK.

Joe biden told us that white nationalists are a greater threat to security than ISIS. 4/28/21

But the 2017 census estimates for Vermont show it's population to be 94% Caucasians. Memphis on the other hand has a Caucasian population of under 30%, according to 2021 data estimates. So clearly the southern Caucasians are over achieving, while the northern whites are certainly slackers.

Despite these 2 outlier examples, I'm glad the president was bold enough to identify the true problem facing the nation. Because the first step in solving the problem is identifying it.

And?

This is a DISCUSSION forum, NOT post and run with nothing from the poster on what they post.

I wish the mods would close this type of posting.
