Just a few observations.

First of all, of course, what a disaster!

Secondly, it seems the Bay of Pigs has met the Fall of Saigon. Of course, that is not quite fair for the brainpower of JFK was a lot better and Ford at least had a way to get refugees out to a degree.

Third, is dereliction of duty a charge that can be brought up?

Fourth, it seems that screwing happens no matter which way one turns. During the Trump administration, I heard at least mother tell her kids that if they are going to join a service, join the AF for it is the safest given what Trump may pull. Well, Biden isn't Trump but service under him isn't that safe either it would seem.

Finally, it was only by chance but this morning's breakfast of TV, off the DVD, was https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0519023...nm_flmg_act_21 , Barney Miller which opens up with Wojo being the PIO for the week and finding out there is no way to evacuate 11 Million people out of NYC if they have to. It was merely by chance, that episode coming up....of course.

I'm sure you've had lots of answers. In case nobody mentioned this, Biden's the one who changed the date, so he must have felt delaying the date would cause a different outcome, a better one. Biden said it's important for U.S. service members to leave in a safe and orderly manner. He pumped-up the strength of the Afghan military.

No question this was ever going to have a happy ending.

The exit would have been just fine if we had left in May, so don't give me that moral equivalency crap. Were the Taliban overrunning Kabul back in May? No.
The Taliban took over large chunks of the country all of last year, what do you suppose May 1 would look like.

wow - congrats on your "first" post. As a gay man, I'll happily say you are ill-informed.

You expected 15,000 Americans stranded with no plan to rescue them and about 80 billion dollars in state of the art US weaponry handed over to the Taliban?

Is this really what you believe?
