Most of us not firmly in the grip of the right OR the left see one of the main issues with Biden's handling was the timing & execution. It's been stated t/o the thread and all over the media by even Biden's defenders.

Bottom line is Afghanistan has been a quagmire for decades, and every POTUS has been scrutinized & ripped for whatever role he played. How simple for all of us to be armchair quarterbacks with 20/20 hindsight. But if one is a loyal, no-questions-asked Biden supporter...then one will blindly follow him into ruin. Happy trails to you.

"Evacuated" to where? How would we be better off if Bagram was still open?

According to Trump himself, he had troops down to less than 2K in the entire country, so how could 2500 troops have been at Bagram alone?

...I made early withdraw possible by already pulling much of our billions of dollars of equipment out and, more importantly, reducing our military presence to less than 2,000 troops from the 16,000 level that was there...

Because Bagram has a secure airfield that wouldn’t require American citizens being shot, beaten, waiting for hours, or crushed to death to board a flight.

Are you seriously this clueless?

You do know there are many other military bases in Afghanistan correct?

You do know they were all closed down and evacuated before Bagram right? Nor do they have an airfield.

Do y'all get it? Biden wanted this to happen...and worse. Does the 1.5 B his boss sent to Iran begin to make sense now?

So they should have made Bagram, not Kabul, the final airport?

Someone should inform the generals of Rocko's brilliant military strategies, evidently. I'm sure they'd be grateful for your insight.

American citizens being shot? I haven't heard any of that reporting. You got a link?

Worse than Vietnam where we lost 58,000 lives with 300,000 injured, where the Vietnamese who helped us needed to crowd into boats and across the border. Poor comparison to Benghazi and Iranian crisis also.

This withdrawal most certainly could have gone better but it was always doomed, maybe you can name some successful withdrawals without host country military support and a government structure.

Bagram was transferred to the Afghan military, it's also 150 miles from Kabul.
