Only a fool would believe that with the constant influx of Spanish speaking illegals into our country that English won't lose its place as the dominant and identifying language of our country. Stick your heads in the sand if you wish. Those of us who are wide awake won't.
Claiming others who don't agree with you lack your wisdom is never a convincing argument, especially since it is most commonly employed by those incapable of supporting their position.

Many countries have declared official languages over the years, but USA isn't one of them. If you're comfortable with "de facto" language being English due to natural evolution of communication from immigration, it's interesting you fear this happening with Spanish.

I think a lot of people don't know American history and try to convince themselves that English is our language. It's one of our many languages. We chose to separate ourselves from Europe and not have a national language, religion, etc.
For now, get the babble subscription and buckle up son, this is not you 're country anymore.
Ah so this country that has always been defined by immigrants and had areas where Italian/German/Chinese/etc. was spoken is now no longer their country because what 13% can speak Spanish?
So you want to blame Spanish speakers for the failures of the American educational system?
You sound like a Trump supporter.
He's not blaming Spanish speakers ENTIRELY. Lots of the worsening of the educational system coincides with the liberals who run it. But in addition to that, having kids in American schools who don't speak English obviously lowers the caliber of the school.

The problem isn't the percentage who can speak Spanish. The problem is the percentage who can speak Spanish ONLY.
It might not be happening at this rate if Americans didn't make a point of learning enough Spanish to converse with them, and if companies didn't make a point of having Spanish versions of their products/advertising.
