So, how many live in liberal areas that are experiencing shortages? We are in central KS, and no shortages here, but then again, COVID barely touched our area, go over a county to the liberal county, and I bet they have a shortage, as they still fight COVID. I think all of this is very controlled.
Not sure I understand the pasta shortage. Is it the wheat? Is it going somewhere else besides the US? We have plenty of wheat here in the US.
I tried to get spaghetti for my grocery delivery yesterday, no regular spaghetti AT ALL, just whole wheat spaghetti, which we don't really like, so I finally opted for gluten-free spaghetti, which was the only other option. Come time for the delivery this morning and guess what was unavailable and not able to be delivered in the order? The spaghetti.
Canada is the largest exporter of durum wheat, which is used to make pasta. About two-thirds of all durum wheat comes from the Great White North. There have been empty spaces in the canned cat food section at my stores for a couple of years. That's why I started using Chewy.com. Sometimes they are out of specific flavors. But it comes in within days, not weeks.
Our grocery store has pretty much everything in stock, but the paper goods like paper plates and cups seem to be running low for some reason.
That being said, I walk up and down the aisles these days looking at the prices and muttering under my breath "I'm NOT paying that", "Are you kidding me? I'm NOT paying that", "They can forget it, I am NOT paying that".
Never once have I gone to the grocery store and not found what I need...Occasionally I've to to get a difference brand of something but nothing has ever been totally out.
Chewy.com is good too, although you need to spend $50 to get free shipping.
