But, the Reedy Creek Improvement District (if it remains being called that) will survive when they follow the Florida Statutes to re-certify the District on or before July 2023.
They may or may not. But what's delicious is, provided DeSantis gets re-elected (he almost certainly will) Disney will need to grovel before him to get re-certified. These certification processes are based on committee discretion. And if Disney is still flicking its tail around to push politics we don't want, we can simply hold off on re-certification. However, if Disney does grovel, look at all the epic outrage from the Wokester crowd.

Chapek and Disney has been very quiet as of late. It's hilarious.

Reality -- I do not believe Disney left itself wide open to the whims of the political community when they agreed to their special tax designation.

I suspect that there are legalities that this Florida govt. is ignoring for the dog and pony show they want to put on.

Disney is not indoctrinating anyone. Stop it.

Every corporation bribes politicians....they usually donate to both parties (they don't do black and white bribes).
do you get your news only from CNN or MSNBC? Do you not know what is happening?

Please, your assuming that this will even happen by June 2023. I would bet DeSantis backs off assuming he gets reelection, he is just passing off right wing rhetoric to energize his base. If you think he is going to win against Florida's number one employer guess again. Just an election year ploy.

Sure a governor wants to destroy their largest employer over nonsense.

It's already passed. Nothing to back off on. Disney needs to re-apply to get certified. Of course the geniuses in this thread claimed this was a win for Disney, so maybe the rodent won't reapply ?

You're that bent out of shape over donations? I hope you kept that same energy about the Disney employees that were grooming cbildren and being part of a sex trafficking ring, that got busted before they could lure their victims to the spot they were going to have then kidnapped. But you're mad over donations? Thats your point to all of this? Ok groomer.
Boy if that doesn't sound like Pizza Gate, where did you get that nugget of information. I'm almost afraid to ask for the source.

I don’t think it will it’s an idle threat but taking away their control will hurt them if they follow through.

DeSantis has been governor for three years. Florida could have at any time in that three year period gone back and dissolved special districts that were in place prior to the revised Constitution of the State of Florida of 1968. That he did not, and only did it after he announced his anger at Disney lays a path to a legal challenge.

PS. The Constitution of the State of Florida was not new in 1968, it had been in place since 1885.

That fig leaf MIGHT have flown if not for the fact that the bill's author, Randy Fine, and Gov. DeSantis himself have been very explicit that this is punishment against Disney. The United States Constitution under Article I, Section 9, Clause 3 makes it clear that this was an unconstitutional law.

It won't destroy Disney or other hurt them too much in FL as they are right now. What it might do is cause Disney to change/delay development plans, change/delay moving business units to FL. Neither of those actions would be good for the state of Florida.
