It was, literally, the main reason people went to the polls. Record turnout.

The progressive candidates spent well over $100,000 more on campaigning ... and still lost.

What.

Does.

That.

Tell.

You.

1. Stop listening to MSM reports of 'what is happening in Florida.' They are not telling you the whole story and often misrepresenting and downright lying about what is going on.

2. Parents were SICK of being dismissed outright by the progressive board members. Now they feel they can be heard.

3. If you don't like Florida, well, you don't have to visit or live here. Plenty of people do.

4. This is a local election that reflects what local people want. Again, doesn't apply to you if you don't live here.

Turnout was around 30%, pretty typical in most school board elections.

Several school board candidates from both sides spent over $100K, all for a position that pays $40K. Also DeSantis visited the district before the vote to promote his brand and the Christian University guidelines.

What it tells me is that in addition to politicizing Disney World and the courts, DeSantis and the right wing have been successful in doing the same with school boards. Hundreds of thousand of dollars in school board races all because of team crazy creating conspiracies.

This has been a top performing school in Florida, I don't think the new board can screw it up but I might be overly optimistic. This doesn't bode well for LGBTQ, minorities and teachers.

It will be interesting to follow this story and see where it ends up. Yes, parents can now be heard, no one listened to them before.
Hopefully they will start behaving themselves.

Incumbent Bridget Ziegler, who had a hand in the controversial Parent’s Bill of Rights law signed by the governor bested Dawnyelle Singleton, a first time candidate with Democratic support. She and Ziegler have been neck and neck in campaign contributions, each raising about $140,000 in contributions.

Robyn Marinelli, a retired Sarasota educator, beat Lauren Kurnov, who was endorsed by the local teachers union and the Democratic Party of Sarasota and had raised the most money of anyone on the ballot with almost $250,000.

Your downplaying and disinformation/misinformation is noted. And, quite frankly, is idiotic. It's quite simple to look things up, you see.

Had zero to do with the governor, and 100% to do with parents fed up with school board members who DON'T LISTEN to parents.

Which is similar to what you are doing right now when listening to others tell you what to think about the fact there was record turnout for school board elections.

Stay in your feedback loop to make sure you maintain your confirmation bias.

Pay no attention to the Florida residents who VOTED.

They generated controversy of a non-issue, this is part of the governors master plan and the right wing crazies. They ran an effective campaign with their claims of not being heard and created a boogeyman. My guess is that there will be no major changes, I don't think they even know what they specifically want changed.

Maybe you missed the 3 school board candidates that spoke at Desantis' rally in Sarasota, a governor campaigning for a local school board and dividing a community, that' a new one.

It's bad for the community to have outside politics enter into local school boards, very divisive.

If they are the model citizens, the school uniforms will probably feature brown shirts and Jack boots before long.

Its certainly going to be interesting to see how folks like it when the extremists take over the education of their children. I'm guessing this wont go well.

It’s called privatization! That’s the plan. And if you notice - this guy keeps pulling up militia type grouping. He hired some security force for the voting - another bunch for state emergencies, wants military as teachers with out a teaching degree. Now hanging with the proud boys. lol I hope people open their eyes. He’s not a wannabe trump, he’s a wanna be castro.
