My response wasn't directed at you directly or personally .. it was in response to the thread and the various comments.

karfar, I did not mean to leave out gay families - and I agree with you on that.

If you're going to argue about taxes and benefits, they why are you making it a gay issue?

Are you saying you don't mind paying for, for example, straight parents on welfare with four children? But if it was lesbian or gay parents in the same situation, you would not?

I must be misunderstanding your train of thought .. I welcome enlightenment ...

Hers what I am saying. I dont want the partner of a gay being able to collect death benefits in the case of the bread winner passing. Children should be protected, they cant help it their parents are lazy and irresponsible

Oh, so straight people in your book are okay to receive death benefits, but not a gay couple?

Straight people aren't lazy or irresponsible?

Sorry, I still don't comprehend your train of thought.

I will agree with you that children should be protected ... but their protection has nothing to do with their parents' sexual orientation.

And why is that? It's no problem for you if heterosexuals collect on that, correct? WHERE IS THE PROBLEM HERE?????? Oh I get it sweet heart, it's YOU that is having a problem w/having compassion & respect for others. Actually, it's not compassion, it's called representation for all. Read up on it.

These benefits were put in place so mothers who raised families would be protected in the event of the death of the bread winner.
