there were more african slaves in north america than native groups, dont forget native groups oftendestroyed each other siding with specific european groups
there were less indiah groups left after being killed by settlers for their land or dying from disease--indians were NOT given shelter,or a secret way to a better life, were not well organized, did not divide a nation in a battle(no one stuck up for their rights)
in this century there are few indian tribes left and they do not turn on each other such as the current african-american communities do------
The way I see it, they both got it bad in different ways. Native Americans had their land taken from them and African slaves were kidnapped from their own land and placed in a foreign land, against their will.
African slaves were put under slavery for generations upon generations. Native Americans had two choices a)live on the reservation, or b)assimilate to the dominant culture. For African-Americans, there was no "assimilation to the dominant culture". If you were a free black man, you weren't welcomed in alot of places and interracial marriage between Blacks and Whites was looked down on. Interracial marriage between Native Americans and Whites was looked down on, but less so than between Blacks and Whites. Native Americans still had a bit of their culture left, if not less. African-Americans after some generations, were so far removed from Africa that most African-Americans today(myself included) don't know what tribe they came from or the language spoken.
When Native Americans were getting their land stolen from them(yes I used the word "stolen" because that is basically what happened) many were getting ravaged with diseases like smallpox. The reason relatively few Native Americans were slaves is because they rebelled and said they wouldn't take any crap. Many were murdered for this. Early colonists gave up on using Native Americans as slaves and used Africans. African slaves often got killed if they rebelled against getting captured. Some committed suicide by jumping off of the boats. Many died from illnesses on the ship. Once they got to the New World, they were basically subjugated to every horrible thing.
In a way, they both got it bad, but in different ways. Both ethnic groups suffer from relatively high poverty and death rates. Someone in an earlier post mentioned that African-Americans have a high standard of living now. That is because African-Americans decided to fight for their rights, to fight for better living conditions. It wasn't given to them, they had to fight.
I would say african-american got it worse overall throughout the history of african-americans.
Why, because:
-slavery
- not being equal as humans
- restricted areas
- lost culture
- lost religion
- lost land
- lost language
- lost total history
- killed in the most horrific ways
- racism still of today
- most hated throughout history and the world
- always looked down
- thought of as an disgrace
also
- been slaves up under almost every race in the world
also, african americans are not african, we are two different types of people, there might be african americans in africa but they are still not african. And don't say we have a black president because obama is african and half white.
And all you whites should stop saying its not your faults. Even god says you will pay for what your forefathers did. Just as how black babies were killed for doing nothing wrong.
It also have a reference of black people being the son of Moses' son Ham. He said Ham's children would be cursed forever. That passage about paying for the sins of our forefathers is outdated and does not apply to this context. The Bible can be taken in many ways, there are many passages of slavery in the Bible (with Africans being the slaves) and Jesus never said anything about it being wrong even though he literally saw it and knew it was happening.

id say the Indians had it the worst.
their land was invaded their people slaughtered.and their freedom taken away.what was left they got just a sliver of land called a reservation in witch they had to stay on.if they left the reservation the were deemed hostile hence the term (off the reservation.)
I mean the religious topic was brought up and Heroe obviously had no idea what he talking about. Of course I don't think blacks are cursed forever but there are passages saying anything in the Bible so it if difficult to site the Bible as a concrete argument
Native Americans have it better TODAY. They have more priviledges. They have their own health clinic. There are multiple college and educational scholarship opportunities. They have a better chance of being admitted to a competitive college than a Black student because they are more underrepresented. They can open casinos on their land and have other priviledges concerning tax free liquor and alcohol. Socially speaking, Blacks are still discriminated against more than Native Americans particularly in the South.
