Both Native Americans and blacks had it bad -- very bad. Both had their cultures completely destroyed. While you're at it, don't forget the Chinese immigrants around the turn of the century; they are the forgotten persecuted. It also wasn't so great to be a Jew, even in America.
Native Americans have it better TODAY. They have more priviledges. They have their own health clinic. There are multiple college and educational scholarship opportunities. They have a better chance of being admitted to a competitive college than a Black student because they are more underrepresented. They can open casinos on their land and have other priviledges concerning tax free liquor and alcohol. Socially speaking, Blacks are still discriminated against more than Native Americans particularly in the South.
You should visit a reservation sometime. I think that would change your mind. It's pretty horrible. I'd much rather be a black person than a Native American. Unless a Native American escapes the reservation, his chances of happiness and success are not very good. I am also not sure you are correct that affirmative action favors Native Americans over blacks (not saying you are wrong, just saying I'm not sure you're right.)

Really this whole list is false...one could really say that whatever the Native Americans lost is still found throughout the Southwest and throughout Central and South America. I think while both definitely got a very short stick compared to the white settlers, the clear loser of them all was the Indians.
Slavery is horrible, and we should be ashamed as a nation of allowing it, but it's not as bad as genocide. When you're enslaved, you can still hope to be freed, sing, have a family, enjoy nature, and know you'll have a legacy (which blacks do in this country and Native Americans don't).
The Indians were basically exterminated like rodents. Could you imagine strangers from another continent telling you your way of life sucked, and you had to believe in their God, and follow their lifestyle, or die? If you DID do this, you still might die. White people embraced African American culture, and it's strong to this day, especially in music where it DOMINATES outside of rock. What do the Indians have? Place names? Casinos? Chapters in history books? That's about it. They're foreigners in their own land to people who are themselves foreigners from the other half of the world.
The only reason blacks are seen as being more oppressed is because they lived to tell about their plight. The Native Americans don't even get that privilege.

they are false. Im not saying that NA tribes werent decimated. Im saying that the reasons that person gave for those differences were false. He says that the culture of Africa is still in Africa. Im merely saying that that is like saying that because: not every single Native American tribe was wiped out completely, or they were colonized ,they could still be found in the Southwest or Central America.
Africa too, was and is comprised of different regions, different tribes, with different cultures. Several of those groups have been heavily colonized by cultures other than their own, if not wiped out entirely. Just as present day NA areas have been colonized in North America/Central America. So it is a falsehood to say that Africa's culture just ubiquitously represents the same culture that would have been found had AA not been imported.
Thats all Im saying...That is not to say that one culture's plight is worse or better than the other's..like I said, I think the whole comparison is silly, and every race on earth has experienced some degree of dehumanization.
Native Americans, for sure. Time after time they were lied to about having alliances with the US, only to be stabbed in the back. Further, the white settlers brought diseases for which they had no immunity, guns, and alcohol (which they had not invented, and thus their biology was ill-adapted for it, whereas alcohol was around since ancient Egypt in the Old World). Lastly, of approximately 40 million native americans, a paltry number still exist. There's many mestizos (native americans mixed with spanish or other European blood) around but very few pure blood native americans left.
Blacks, on the other hand, were slaves yes, and had severe rights curbs for many hundreds of years in the USA. But they weren't annihilated. Most were treated as property and some treated their property very well (who wants a diseased man when the owner spent a ton of money for him?). Not saying slavery is a good thing any way you dress it, but the blacks had it made compared to the native americans.

What does the brits mixing with the indians have to do with anything?
Native americans got it worse, genocide is worse than slavery, but I don't see the point in comparing attrocities.
