Reassuring to know that they are doing well in this tanking economy. Interesting that their enrollemnt fell, but their profits rise above expectations. I wonder why? Can we all say GOUGING?

Apple Profits soared , so did Caterpillar are they "gougers" also?

Are you really one of them there socialists or do you just sound like one?

On a more serious note, let me say that I don't see many people who aren't in favor of health care reform but there are very many of us who don't accept what the leadership in both houses of Congress call reform. Killing the small businesses as they are trying to do, just doesn't make any sense to me.

Caterpillar has little to do with the American economy except for what they can do to bleed it. Most of their component parts come from other countries, notably China.

IF all they do is take without putting anything back, I would say that "gouger" is a pretty good term. Isn't that the same thing as welfare except that they have no intention of ever making a contribution?

I don't get the part that relates no insurance to hard times. I've had insurance, off and on depending on employment. I started on blood pressure and cholesterol meds in '96 during an insured period. One day Doc said I'd have to have the twice a year blood work done in a clinic due to insurance rules, or raise my deductible to $1000 annual. So I raised the deductible and continued the meds. A few years later I left the job but still do the blood work and keep the meds. I pay out of pocket and still don't hit the $1000 a year. Odd thing is, the clinic I go to now charges me less for paying cash than they'd charge if I had insurance.

Still, no hard times. I just don't get it, sorry. And as a Libertarian I see no reason to change it.

Sorry to inform you that everyones situation isn't yours. A $27,000 surgery costs $27,000 dollars for an uninsured person. You were lucky not to encounter any major issues such as this during your uninsured period. I don't think people should have to roll the dice.

Funny that you can always count on some people for a nonsensical response.
What the hell does computer and machinery profits have to to with healthcare?

People are dying and suffering because of being denied treament. How does this relate to Apple??? or Caterpillar???

the idea that if there are more people on the plan that more people will be able to have all of these expensive procedures that they were denied previously just doesn't make sense.....
if anything, it would lead to more rationed care, not less. again, the government doesn't have a money tree.

Rolling the dice is a privilege a parent gives a child at some fateful point in time.

You are attempting to make the point that because United Health made a profit that some how makes them "gougers" if that is your logic then Apple and Cat should be also since they both made a profit also. THAT IS MY POINT!!

So are Health Insurance companies suppose to go broke?
