why would our country even consider a plan that would include illegal immigrants? medicare and medicaid are already drowning in debt, yet pelosi wants to see american awash in even more red ink.
We have a member of Congress who has said,
“We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as ‘Americans’.”
Again, how did you come to this conclusion; polling, independent research, how? What were your methods?
If this is true, according to your statement, we have no healthcare crisis. You suggest in the above post that most Americans can afford to pay, even out of pocket, for medical care.
OVER 16 MILLION of those who are uninsured earn $50,000 or more a year!!!!!!!!!!!

They are already covered. It's a matter of medical ethics. You can treat them in a low cost clinic or in an emergency room, but people aren't left out in the street to die.
Please, keep in mind that in the United States today, over 80% of Americans have health insurance.
And yes - some require co-pays. Some have deductibles. There is NO REASON why you should expect the Government to pay for 100% of every little medical bill you incur.
Insurance use to be ONLY for MAJOR Medical - hospitalizations / surgeries.
I would not mind going back to that and having Americans actually pay for some of their own medical costs. What would be wrong with that?
This for example: If someone cannot afford to pay "out of pocket" to see a pulmonologist for that chronic cough, they don't. They continue to go around coughing TB in public place (True account).
What is wrong with that is those who cannot go because of cost could potentially become a public health problem.
There are 300 plus million people in the USA...37 million have no insurance.
46 million + have no insurance.
Quote:
Annual Census Bureau estimates released in August show 47 million people, or 15.8 percent of the U.S. population, were without health insurance during 2006 — a 4.9 percent increase.
Permit me a question - do you want to cover those in the country illegally?
