well that's obvious.

why not just listen to people like reads2much and criticize his policies instead of advancing silly conspiracy theories about his place of birth?

if i was a conservative this whole birther thing would embarrass the hell out of me, just like the anti-semitism in parts of the anti-zionist movement and the 9/11 truthers embarrass me now (although truthers are not an exclusively left-wing group).

and by the way, back to the original topic of this thread, what do you think about the validity of this particular lawsuit? what do you think about the fact that worldnet daily, who are big proponents of the birther movement themselves, think lucas smith is a crank and that the birth certificate (as well as the other kenyan bc orly has produced) is forged?

do you think it's just a strange coincidence that your side keeps coming up with these blatant forgeries and lies?

do you really trust a guy who introduces the alleged birth certificate to the world first by trying to sell it on ebay, then by releasing a shakycam video of himself walking through an alleyway in an unnamed 3rd world country and waving it around on a clipboard in front of a bunch of kids?

i think obama has completely stopped humoring the birthers, because as soon as he ceded a tiny bit and released his (valid, legal, admissible in court) birth certificate, the birther movement really exploded and the hawaii department of health was besieged. he probably realized he should have just ignored them from the start.

Obama is desperately trying to hide information about himself. That's very clear. Sooner or later (hopefully sooner) the truth will come out - crystal clear. It always does - you can run, but you can't hide... As more of the country learns the truth about Obama's radical, racist, socialistic plans people will be more willing to rat him out. It can't happen soon enough. He's destroying America!

Agree. Furthermore, as has been posted earlier, even if Obama was born in Kenya, he is still an American citizen b/c his mother was an American. He would not be a naturalized citizen, regardless.

The lawsuit will fade away in a few months. End of story.

kootr, that is not an answer to my question. what do you think of THIS lawsuit? do you think it's legit? do you think lucas smith's obama birth certificate is valid? do you think an honest person who comes across a vitally important document immediately tries to sell it on ebay and then posts weird, exploitative videos of it on youtube instead of going straight to court or posting a regular scan of it somewhere?

how is obama trying to hide information about himself? i notice you dropped the conversation about his legal fees a couple of pages back, after you posted a link that contradicted your point. the fact is, all wnd has is the amount of money he spent on legal fees. they have no proof of how it was spent, they have no evidence that it's an unusual amount of money to spend. i might as well look at your food budget for the year and publish an article declaring that you spent it all on cake.

i guess not responding to the birthers' ludicrous list of demands (which includes that he "release" numerous publicly available things) is "desperately trying to hide information about himself".

the birth certificate obama released is considered prima facie evidence in court. that means that it stands as proof of place of birth unless there is evidence to the contrary. and the birthers have produced absolutely NO proof to the contrary, besides some forged documents. have you ever heard of the term innocent until proven guilty? the birthers believe in the opposite - they throw out accusations with no proof behind them, they think obama is required to refute them, and any evidence he does provide is dismissed outright.

I guess I just don't see why we are discussing this. If people would quit discussing it, then the folks who are trying to make it into an issue would be voices crying in the wilderness - without an audience.

Quit discussing it and the issue will go away. For anyone who is fixated on this issue - they can sit around festering over it til Kingdom Come. Life is gonna go on and this President is gonna stay in office, until his term limits run out or until someone else is elected to the position.

End of story.

Desperately? Filing a lawsuit based on a pathetic, obvious forgery is the act of people willfully turning off their critical faculties and staking their reputation on a very shaky basis. Very risky.

Doing it twice is, frankly, moving into desperate territory.

I don't see Obama actually doing anything. He's got bigger fish to fry. His lawyers are doing what any first-year law student would recommend: Giving their opponents what the law requires them to give, no more. Which so far has been nothing.

It was Berg and Taitz who moved this into the courtrooms, and that was really, really stupid of them.

i guess i have this character flaw where i think if i just explain things clearly enough, people will listen to reason, even when they've proven that they will not.

and i do worry about letting lies stand unopposed.

I don't know if this lawsuit has merit. That is up to a judge or the Supreme Court to decide. However, I am convinced that sooner or later a judge, or the Supreme Court, will feel it is time to hear a case...and then the truth will come out. Do I believe Obama is eligible to be POTUS - absolutely NO! He does not meet "natural born citizen" status. And if you plan on asking questions about his status - it is not my job to educate you.
