I see stores are continuing to gradually close as things wind down...Jos A. Bank, Visionworks, Claire’s, etc.

Someone posted on the Cary Downtown Facebook page a couple of days ago that the final day of operation at CTC is January 31.

The race will be on from "Dead Mall" video bloggers, to be the first to bag this one on YouTube.

Maybe motorcycling looters and shopping zombies, a la George Romero's Dawn of the Dead?

Apparently Dave & Buster's is going to relocate to the old Harris Teeter/Jumpstreet building. No idea whether this is just a short-term thing while they scout for a more permanent location or if Epic is willing to be a retail landlord for a while. They surely don't need the whole plot of land for their campus right away.

Belk's last day is Saturday and the mall shuts down on Sunday, with the exception of D&B for now.

Back in October I went out to CTC and took a bunch of photos...I definitely feel a connection to the place considering I worked at the Radio Shack that was there.....anyway here are the pics if anyone wishes to go back in time:

I think LensCrafters/Eye Center moved into the old Pei Wei space next to Starbucks along Walnut today. Seems like Epic may indeed be interested in letting some of these peripheral buildings continue to function as retail for a while.

Hmm. Turnbridge's since-withdrawn apartment-building permit filings from last fall showed that building remaining; wonder if this was their plan.

Dave & Buster's has a pretty capital-intensive buildout (read: I certainly wouldn't want to move all those games once a year), so I can't imagine them occupying something for a truly short-term lease.

Any thoughts on where all that demolition stuff from the buildings and parking lots will be dumped?
