Valentine's Day is an excuse for me to buy myself something nice.

Same for Christmas and my Birthday.

Hmmm, I wonder what I'm going to get myself this year

Yeah, I do more for my kids and other non-romantic relationships. I think it is fun, doesn't have to strictly be about romantic relationships.

To me, the whole holiday is bull. I hate it with a passion.

Now if my date Sunday goes well, I may be not single for the first time on V-day. However I still wouldn't mind the holiday being completely eliminated.

Not really surprisingly. I love all the candy and fuzzy stuffed animals associated with the holiday.

Since when was Valentine's Day a holiday? Obviously you need a day to remind yourself that you've failed at love or haven't found love if one daft day affects you so much. Wallow in your abject misery for 24 hours. Tune into the soggiest love movies you can find on Hallmark and Lifetime; cook yourself a lovely little filet mignon, set the table with a candle and eat by yourself; hug a stuffed bear wearing an "I WUV U" tee shirt; go to sleep listening to soppy love songs and line your pillow with a towel to sop up all the tears. After this is all over, you should be completely purged and ready to meet February 15th with renewed optimism.

I've hated it when I had to work (in the restaurant industry, it's an "amateur night" and insanely busy, up there with New Years Eve) but otherwise I'm pretty neutral. It seems pretty easy to avoid if you're single, unless the candy aisle of the drugstore really upsets you....

I get sad when Im single which has been for the past 3.5 years but I don't get all suicidal or anything.

Great when Im with someone as I'm a giver more than a taker

I'm sure my bf, the cat, will leave me a nice "present" in his catbox

I honestly wouldn't celebrate it if I didn't have kids. I didn't really before them as a young adult. Even when I was in relationships I didn't want to celebrate. It's a stupid holiday. Unfortunately, when the kids were in public school they celebrated so now it's expected. Ugh, they have 3 Valentine's Day parties in a row this year
