Is there anyone you can talk to above her--is there her supervisor or HR or something? That's ridiculous. You're allowed to use your PTO, especially when you're giving advance notice, and making sure work is done/covered beforehand. It sounds like she's on a power trip about this.

Agreed - the work force is rife with people who get high off their own farts once they are put in a position to lord over another employee.
Yeah, well, the micro-management really makes me nuts. I just want to do my job and be left alone. Tell me what you want, and I’ll do it.
The other day, my manager wanted my co-worker and I to do a little research, then send her the info. I had asked her if we could do it a different way (because it was easier and faster), and her response was that we would still have to send her the info. No!!!! Really?!?!?

If I were to say that the sky was turquoise, she would want confirmation that it was turquoise and not blue.
