But of course, my kids aren't wealthy Hamptons children. Do they also wear the obligatory chambray button down Oxford shirts?

I still say Ina's meatloaf recipe is the best we've tried, but I do go extra on it by wrapping it in bacon before putting it in the oven. But to be true to Ina, I only use my "best" bacon for the recipe. Oscar Meyer is the fanciest bacon I buy, although I've been buying some new Black Forest cured bacon lately that the family is loving.

It always amuses me when she say, "use your best (vanilla, mustard, whatever ingredient)" - like people have a range of these items in their pantries. "Oh, let's skip the crappy store-brand ketchup and use THE BEST in today's recipe!" Like she needs to remind us, a recipe will taste better if you use THE BEST ingredients than if you use the plebe Aldi line of inferior consumer goods.
Yes, she's always on with the "Good" this or that, like you said, not that rat crap store brand stuff.

We're having issues with getting online, but Mrs. Chow will be in here when she can to mention more stuff.

I'm sure her and her husband are nice people, but something about her casual snobbiness as I call it, Fleetie said it a little differently, but I find myself getting just a little annoyed with her at times.

She lives what feels like to me a privileged insulated, very well off financially nice life in the Hamptons. I mean just let the stereotypes fly and she probably ticks off all of the boxes.

But again, maybe people's lives aren't always what you think they are. I'm half joking here as people can be rich and live in the Hamptons or Martha's vineyard all day, it's no skin off of my nose.

I got interviewed for an article in the Colorado Springs Indy, and it's finally out. It's free to read if you just X out of the subscription offer popup. No paywall. I'm not sure if I should drop a link here because it does speak to some adult subjects (if not in a very graphic way) even if the publication is free and available all over Colorado Springs.... I would love to share it with anyone who is interested, though.

She interviewed a bunch of people, all of whom are my friends, two of whom are former partners, and there is a bit from me that I would bet regulars who have talked to me a while could likely pin down which it is with complete ease. I'm not sure how much I care about that. Probably not much. There are also some cool pictures (no nudity, no porn) of friends of mine in the club space. Hell, the guy who photographed my wedding is in there.

Anyhow, I think it's just safer not to vex the mods with it. If anybody wants to read it, let me know, I'll pm ya the link. It was pretty fun and exciting to get interviewed for the paper.

I'm rather puzzled.

I just had a Covid antibody test and it was Negative. I was certain it was going to be Positive though I havent been sick, I haven't been very careful about quarantine either so I figured I had an asymptomatic or low symptomatic case.

Could it be that haven't been exposed at all ever to the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the past 2 years?!

I'm no doctor or biologist, thats for sure, but I did read that if a person has previously had one of the earlier sars infections that have been spreading since 2002, then the immune system's T-cells may still have the memory and are able to clear the SARS-CoV-2 virus very early, so early it never registers on a PCR test or antibody test. I kind of wonder if this is what happened in my case.

I wish there was an antibody test to test for antibodies of a prior infection of one of those earlier sars viruses.

This doesn't change my stance on vaccine at this time. Still holding out because I am building my immune system naturally through diet and healthy lifestyle and have reasons to fear the potential of adverse effects. And its a free country, its my choice. Nobody should ever be bullied or coerced into taking a drug or medical treatment they feel is unnecessary and/or even potentially harmful. I would absolutely rue the day when people lose freedom of choice over this. Yellow fever vaccine to travel abroad or rubella vaccine to attend school or whatever is not an equivalent argument by the way.

I wasnt going to speak on this more but am truly puzzling over my antibody test.

@Sonic congratulations on being interviewed for that paper. Very cool article

Thanks!

Regarding the antibody thing, I would suppose, too, that just like they say that antibodies produced after the vaccine don't generally stay at meaningful levels and they are recommending a booster, that maybe if you were exposed to Covid at some point like last year or something, maybe over time your antibodies diminish or go away. I dunno. Or perhaps you just didn't get exposed!

I have no idea if I've had it or not, or if I was exposed or not. But between precautions I've taken and the change in my overall lifestyle to working from home and not going out as much...maybe, maybe not. My main possible exposure has been interaction with my kids. My Ex swears he's had it twice, though I'm pretty sure he did not get tested when he was sick, and my younger son spent time with him some weekends when I was interacting with my son on other days of the week. All I know is that I have not been ill.

I will be getting a booster whenever I'm able to, last time I looked, this state was still only giving them to older people and those with risk factors.

It might appease your curiosity for you all to get antibody tests! Mine was free and got the results in one day. Took 5 minutes.

Its possible I havent been exposed but I've been going to the store nearly every day since the pandemic. Always masked. And always used hand sanitizer as soon as I get back in the car. And wash hands as soon as I get home. And social distance.

But then I was also dating, where we weren't social distancing. Ive been sexually active since March (with one guy). But hes been traveling the world and working with the public and he wasn't vaxxed until June. Ive been going to bars, restaurants, travelled to LA, even attended a party of 100 people! Thats why its hard for me to believe Ive never been exposed.

Strange!! I dont know what to think.

Maybe I had it at some point and the antibodies vanished. I dont know. Im scratching my head.

Mrs. Chow and myself both took an antibody test and both had it at one time. We were sick but it wasn't that bad really, at least for us. Felt like a low to moderate flu. Some have no symptoms, some wind up on ventilators and some die.

In recent interactions with my cat, I have realized something...

Practically all of his behaviors that I can discern are a way for him to communicate, "I am feeling X right now, and would like for you to respect that and act accordingly." X might be hungry, might be too feisty for affection or wanting to be left alone to sleep, or wanting attention or snuggles. X might be a state of concern, such as when I'm in the bath and he is very concerned about it. But it's all clues to an emotional state.

(I read a study once that said that cat brains are more similar to human brains, than to dog brains, and that one key area in particular is that their emotional regions are fairly advanced. Cats are emotional little creatures.)

I don't find cats to be aloof or mysterious in the slightest. I find them fairly simple to understand. They don't have a whole lot of motivations in life, really. It's just that they use a particular form of body language to communicate how they feel, and if you don't know how to read that, you won't get them.

And this might be why for me, men who like cats or understand cats, it's a point in their favor. It says that they pay attention, and don't need you to shout it in their face for them to comprehend what you might be feeling today. They get nuance and non verbal information and can respect the feelings of another being. And I wonder if this is the real reason that cats are considered a more "feminine" pet, and dogs a more "masculine" one?

Just my musings today.

What is it about this time of year that makes my very bones cold? Despite the wearing of my woolies and several layers of clothing and driving to my first location with the car's heat on full blast, I still cannot seem to get warm today. I think that waiting in line for the show last night let the chill settle more deeply into my core. My fault for wearing a dress and a light jacket, but still...

I won't crank up the heat at the house, so hopefully layers, heavy house socks, and burrowing under blankets as necessary will eventually take away the internal chill.

The teenaged boys of my neighborhood don't seem to have this issue, if the shorts that they're still wearing is any indication of that, lol...sigh.

Our weather has been all over the place lately. We've been having some warm "Santa Ana" days here off and on. I'm liking it. We'll have some cooler days with the warmer dry heat type of days and it's a nice mix up.

November for me seems like it can be fairly mild overall. I think that mid late December is when it starts to really noticeably cool off around these parts.

It's been the same here, but that's not atypical for western Pennsylvania. Warm enough to wash the car one week, frosty the next.

Once it gets cold and stays cold, my body adjusts to the weather. This vacillation between warm and cold weather makes it more difficult to do so. The worst is when it's damp and cold. Brrr.

All of that aside, after spending some time in the kitchen making apple pie filling for Thursday, then burying myself in towels warm from the dryer, I'm now as warm as toast.
