Yearning for a simpler time when life was less hectic also explains it.

I'm not sure I get that - so you have to have a job outside the home to not be considered lazy?

I don't totally fit into the sahw category since I have a son - but he is a teenager so requires less "work" than a small one, although I think it's almost more important to be home and available now.
But even once he's gone in a few years I most likely won't run out and get a job. We really don't need the extra income, and me doing all the mundane stuff that many have to spend their evenings and weekends doing frees us up to do things together when we have the time.

And trust me...I'm not obese either .

Where are you that you can student teach in the summer? Well, it's summer HERE anyway I completed my student teaching in the spring. I'm painfully aware that it will be a few years before I can say I make a difference. I'm not quite sure what I have to learn yet but I know I have a lot to learn about being effective.
I have to say yes, I am quite good at what I do. I agree that there are a few teachers in each district that should not be there, that is inevitable. I felt that, after working for a large public school district for most of my young career, where I would make the biggest impact was the junior high level. I majored in English but I teach a bit of everything. And yes, to answer your second question, I began by teaching summer school. Not quite sure if my earlier comment was upsetting to you for whatever reason but it was my personal opinion. I do feel like I make a much larger impact on society as well as the future by doing what I'm doing rather than staying home without children to raise.

I am neither of the above and for the last 2 years have not worked, first time in my life I might add. Also as of the end of this month when youngest goes to Uni will not have any kids at home. Makes me wonder how all these years I worked full time and did everyting else.
