Default HIring white men

May I ask what makes you think there is a problem with the hiring of white men in Sac? NOT that I disagree with you mind you! But, I know that where I work, they do hire white men quite often.

There's a lot of discrimination in this "multi-cultural" place. I'm not crazy about Sac.

Are you multi-lingual speaking and understanding at a conversation level in English, plus Hispanic or an Asian language?

Look at the following link and see a chart, that shows that Sacramento California has the second most diverse population in the entire United States, only behind Oakland.

https://priceonomics.com/the-most-an...es-in-america/

A large percentage of the guests in hotels in Sacramento, will be other than white Americans, due to it being the capital of the state. In California White is the second largest population and considerable less than 50% of the population, following Hispanics, and Asians #3.

With the diversity of race in Sacramento and the guests in hotel industry in California, one reason that there will be a lot of other than white races for desk clerks, etc., is that most white men do not speak and understand a second language other than English. Makes it a lot easier for their guests, if there is someone working on the desk that can converse with non English speaking guests in their native tongue.

This one fact alone, will give a non white male a lower chance of getting the job. If you speak Spanish or one of the Asian languages, it will greatly increase your chances of getting the job as front desk clerk and other public contact jobs. In fact, a lot of businesses will only hire someone that is fluent in both English and another language common to their guests/customers.

It is not against the law, to pass over white men and hire people with multiple language skills, as long as they will hire white men, IF, they are multi language speakers. The trend today in California cities, is to hire multiple language speakers for public contact jobs, and the trend is increasing. Hint if you want to work in the hospitality industry in Sacramento learn to speak Spanish so you can communicate with guests. Otherwise you are not going to get a job.

And this chart breaks down cities that are predominantly white population. Note Sacramento is clear down to 30th place. In Portland Oregon the whitest major city in the country, English speakers (no foreign language knowledge) would rate high for jobs in the hospitality industry.

https://priceonomics.com/how-diverse-is-your-city/

Trying to get a public contact job in Sacramento unless you speak a language used by a large share of their guests in addition to English will make it difficult for you to get a job in the hospitality industry. Same thing for Miami Florida and several Texas cities, where speaking Spanish is required for those jobs even more than in Sacramento. It does not matter what race or ethnic group you are from, it is dependent on the languages you speak in addition to English.

If you do not speak Spanish or one of the Asian languages, in addition to English, you are not getting jobs, and you are not getting them because you are white. You are not getting them due to your in-ability to speak more than one language.

Finally an answer that makes sense. I guess this is why there are so many Hispanic desk clerks, etc., at work wherever I go - the farm to fork capital I guess really drives home here. Oh, and I've also been looking for driving jobs as well.
