Second, birth rates are a major factor for population in every city/metro and those birth numbers are always larger than net in-migration in every city/metro as well.

There are some places like Dallas and Phoenix where 70 percent plus of their yearly population growth comes from births.

that article states that ~26,000 kids were born in 2010-2011 in bexar county. if kids were included in that 41k number, then the actual number of people moving here would be 15k.
I'm fairly certain these numbers are incorrect. Good try though.

Edit: Looks like texhwyman proved my suspicions.

Hey folks,
The American birthrate has been declining for over 12 years, and 2011 marks the lowest. The largest birthrate was over 4million in 1955! We haven't been able to touch those numbers since...even though there are more parents today than ever. One of the reasons for the low rate is due to the recession. If the economy keeps slumbering, less people are born (at least for the USA).

what are we doing regarding sustainability and absorbing the newer citizens? I would like to hear about all the programs we have in place already if anyone is in the know and wishes to share.

Also this is not a solicitation for negative comments but a request for actual information.

Austin getting real close in passing Charlotte, Columbus, and San Jose, I give it 5 yrs. If growth permist Austin will be the 31st largest. Also congrats for San Antonio taking 24th largest.
