Oh, trust me - the boy has some SERIOUS stuff in there....it's exceeded only by the stuff in my workshop (and I'm the "old man" of the hood, so I've collected LOTS of stuff over the years). He's good w/it, too - he can turn stuff out in a day that I'd still be tryin' to figure out how ta make!!

What we need is for the guys from American Pickers to hit the garages across San Antonio in their never ending quest for rare items. But they probably wouldn't find much of anything worth jack sprat....

Most of the stuff in the garages is garbage.

Reminds me of a saying I once heard: "Only in America, do we park automobiles worth thousands of dollars outside, because our garages are full of worthless junk."

Too true....then again, I replace vehicles every 3-4 years, but some of my tools date to my Great-Grandfather!

Default Parking Monger

I live in the Solana Ridge subdivision, and have a neighbor I have been battling for over 5 years over parking. He accepted to buy a home with a fire hydrant in front of his house, and because he cannot park there, he insists on inconveniencing his surrounding neighbors (Me included) by parking in front of our homes in our parking spaces. This person has 5-6 cars to only 3 drivers... he is in his late 50's to early 60's, and cannot be spoken to politely... Believe me, I have tried... Other neighbors have attempted where I have failed, as they too witnessed ignorance in the making. There is an open alleyway about 2 blocks from our homes for excess vehicle parking, but he chooses to be the person he sees in the morning, and causes frustration. The excuse he always cries about is: "It's a public road"... I know we live on private property on a public road, but are there any laws that allow a tax payer to be able to park in front of their residence, without having to deal with people with more cars than they use?

He has every legal right to park in any legal space he wants. He also has the legal right to have as many cars as he wants.

There may be deed restrictions/HOA covenants in place, but that would be a civil issue.

You could always park your own car(s) in front of your house.

Understand that you may not like it, but there's nothing illegal about it.

Our neighbor does the same thing, and it is an inconvenience as sometimes we are required to park in the street (3 drivers and 3 vehicles) and cannot do so because one of their vehicles is there; but there's not much you can do about it unless your bylaws don't allow it.

JayTee, I am 100% with you on this one and it's one of my pet peeve's about SA neighborhoods. Didn't even think to really ask or look for it, never having lived where it was allowed. I cannot stand that people own 4-5 cars and are too lazy to clean out their garage, which would hold two...or at least park all of them in their own driveway. It's looks like a 'hood to me and says alot about people when you drive along- who wants to look at cars? Not to mention it is unsafe to leave only one lane open. Won't make that mistake again.
