The problem being that a laser beam capable of melting someone's ass doesn't need to be solid, while a lightsaber is light basically made solid. Which I don't think would ever happen, but MAN. How do you dodge bullets when they're solid light and travel way faster than any armor could ever protect from?
Keep in mind that the laser must remain on target for a long time in a tactical sense and that the "target" in that video was painted black to maximize the infrared wavelength absorption spectrum and heat ablation of the laser.
