I have tried In'n'Out Burger and thought that it was basically okay. That being said, when they finally do expand to the Greater Houston Area I will not rush to In'N'Out Burger and eat there. I find that in my opinion, Whataburger blew In'N'Out Burger out of the park.
But being a Native Texan, I am just plum biased. Whataburger is the Best!!!!!

Fuddruckers is merely OK.

Five Guys or one of the new burger boutiques like BGR Joint or The Counter.

The boutiques kill EVERYONE.

Never had Five Guys or the others you mention, so......

I imagine that the "boutiques" (like Fuddrucker's) don't use the prefab food that so many of the chains are guilty of.

I definitely think the restaurants (FuddRuckers, Red Robin) kill the fast food chains.

If you get a chance though try to get into a burger boutique.

It's like eating a cow that descended from heaven.

Fuddrucker's is definitely a restaurant. Can't compare In N' Out or any fast food joints to them.

When I'm in the Houston area, I tend to lean towards Carl Jr's. But I like charbroiled burgers.

I can't speak for the Fort Worth side of town, but Carl Jr.'s has been making some inroads on the Dallas side. Or I know of two locations at least. Maybe there is one in Fort Worth, or soon to be.

There may be one in this town, but I can't for the life of me find one.

Hell, we just got Burger King back in certain places.

I think the best burgers to be found, in any area of the country, are the Mom & Pop places. Places with odd names like Big Chew Chew Burger in Temple, TX, Boo Dawg's Backyard in Boerne, TX, and Koral Hamburg in Waterville, OH. In any case, the quality, flavor, and service in these small, locally owned establishments always outshines the large chains.
