Some Texans don't care, but many do. Most of my coworkers were ashamed that Rick Perry was from the state. They told me "be glad you didn't live here when he was governor."

I believe you are correct in analyzing her thinking, but what I'm trying to get across is the fact the State isn't imposing it's dominance over communities based on personal religion. The state is simply complying with the majority of it's citizens wishes. This is not called imposing dominance based on one or two people's personal religious beliefs, this is called democracy. Dan Patrick came to a school board meeting in Fort Worth and THL you are well within viewing range of the televised coverage the local DFW stations gave it. People came out in droves and overwhelmingly voiced their opposition to the school board. Later, there would be groups of people from Fort Worth traveling to Austin to voice their disapproval at the state capitol. THL when you used the term imposing dominance, you could very well be describing the Fort Worth school superintendent. Was he not imposing his dominance upon the students and their parents of the FWISD? And this was based on . . . what? His personal beliefs? His religion? His political correctness? His what? It doesn't matter, just pick something out of a hat, it seems to work well for you. Might as well pick religion, that seems to be an all time favorite. Whatever he based his reasoning on, he definitely used dominance to impose it. All to the delight of a select few and the dismay of the majority.
Am I to understand this is what we want in our school superintendents, our state leaders? To bow down to a minute select few and impose their will over the entire majority? And all the while claim you live in a democracy? Sh*t fire and save matches and just stick a fork in me cause I'm done.
I would like to say that I am totally mystified how something as stupid and completely inane as this issue is ever got started in the first place but then I have to remember Obama originated it, so there's my answer.
I know a great many people (living in Texas for 67 years in various parts of the state does that). I know precious few who are in favor of the nonsense laws that the Governor and Lieutenant Governor are trying to shove down our throats (and use to distract us from everything else they are doing - what other laws that are being passed right now are you even aware of, never mind familiar with? They know that genitals will work to distract the rabble every single time.). You assume that it's the majority that want what you want; I assume the majority wants what I want (Texas being famous in times past for being live and let live rather than "let's force our religious beliefs - let's be honest, that's what it is - on others"). Only way to tell is to find out how many care enough at all to vote, and we're certainly not going to be allowed to do that!

And I'm a bit taken aback by your vitriol about Rick Perry and Abbott, to be honest. My gosh, I didn't like Ann Richards and I know people who knew her personally who couldn't STAND her personally or professionally, but I never was as full of venom toward her (or any other politician I can think of - I hold most of them in varying degrees of low esteem) as you apparently are toward Republican politicians.
Oh well. Get outraged, get embarrassed, whatever - I'm just not surprised when politicians of every stripe and color are less than morally or philosophically astute. I think most of them are in it for themselves and their egos. I'm including both Obama and Trump in that statement. And most of their minions.
And I'll repeat my earlier sentiment - I can't believe how ridiculously massive and suddenly of such burning issue this whole transgender bathroom thing has become - for less than 1 percent of the population of the US. Isn't that the God's truth? Complete waste of time and over what? Just plain stupidity, that's what. I'm outta here my own damn self.
No, what I'm saying is that there are very few people in this world who are actually transgender and most of them were probably using whatever bathroom they identified with prior to all this hoopla without anyone even suspecting anything.
I think this whole thing is much ado about nothing, and I don't like the federal government trying to strong arm states into complying with this much ado about nothing.
