Since it's underrated, isn't Tyler the fastest growing compared to Midland-Odessa, Waco, Killeen-Temple, Amarillo and some others under 200,000?
No way, Killeen is one of the fastest growing in the country.

It depends on how we define major.

If we are talking major on the World Stage, the DFW and Houston are the only two.

I agree with LAnative10 -- Dallas and Houston, in terms of world profile. However, in reality San Antonio has to be counted as a major city too.

If SA does, then so does Austin. Neither are on Houston and Dallas' level.

SA has a much bigger population than Austin. I don't agree that Austin can be classed as a major city and I'm a big fan of Austin, having spent 22 years of my life there.

The metro areas are not that much different and Austin is growing faster. You don't really look at city limits when seeing which is major. If we did that, then SA would be more important than Dallas, which it isn't.

Let me help you guys out.
You see the Cities that have their own forum on the Texas forum?
Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Ft. Worth, Houston, and San Antonio
Those are the major cities in Texas. End of Story. Major Cities by definition doesnt mean that the cities have attractions, a number of fortune 500 companies, the universities it has or any of that. It is only defined by population, and the BIG TEXAS 7 above have a large population. Corpus Christi may be left out, but El Paso makes the list. Period.

Yeah, I'd definitely leave Corpus out of the list of major cities.

In my opinion, it's: Houston/Dallas, Austin/SA, El Paso/McAllen, Lubbock/Corpus/Beaumont/Tyler, etc.

We're not talking city limits (obviously), or SA would be ahead of Dallas. McAllen metro is above 700K. Corpus is, what, right below 400K?
