I'm wondering if whatever was bought at the drugstore will actually be foolproof… and Mary ends up scrambling to push the wedding forward… to which beau, I'm not sure.
I also think that Edith might be in a sticky situation with the fireman -- the way Mrs. Hughes was looking when Edith thanked him, people might wrongly assume that she had an affair with him and Marigold is his. I'm trying to think back to that season where Edith helped out on a farm -- was it the sam man?

It may have been, I can't remember either. He wasn't given a name in the Downton wiki ...
"Upon the outbreak of the First World War Edith uses her driving skills to work on a local farm driving tractors, much to the bemusement and gratitude of the farmer. She starts a relationship with him, eventually sharing a kiss, although his wife is an unknown spectator to their embrace. She receives a letter shortly after this saying that her services will not be needed at their farm anymore."
Edith's "secret" is fast becoming known by all. The aunt, the Grandmama, the tenant/pigman/fireman Mr. Drewe (Mrs. Drewe is a little bit dense) ...
Anna found the picture under the pillow in Edith's burnt room and handed it to Mrs. Hughes.
The look on both of their faces was ... "Oh heavens, another problem."
This is no doubt very trivial, but what's up with Mrs. Hughes' new hairdo? It's way too modern for her station in life and actually makes her look older, in my opinion. Kind of mousy, don't you think? And lessens her appearance as 2nd in command downstairs.

Ok, I found info on IMDB -- Mr. Drake was the farmer that Edith (almost?) kissed. Mr. Drew's father died with many debts, but they were kind to his family and didn't chuck them out. Mr. Drew was also supposed to be appointed the "pig man"

I know, but she is sweet and I am not looking forward to her losing little Marigold (LOVE that name!)

I was just waiting for that moment when the photo was found!!
I think that a major character flaw in Tony is going to make its presence known. That is probably hopeful thinking on my part.
IMO, Charles loves her more than Tony does and for very different reasons. That is important. Again, it's probably hopeful thinking.
Mary should listen to us because we know what's best for her.
Despite dumping the rules for a sleepover, I think Tony is going to become too conventional for her. Right now they are playing. Push comes to shove he's not going to want a play date but the lady of the manor. Does Mary really want just that? Charles loves the Mary who isn't conventional. If she listens to herself, and not her conditioning, then she would see that.

And she certainly should.
I agree with you about Tony, and Charles seems to be more Mary's type because he won't grow stodgy with age and seems to have a sense of fun and spontaneity. There is something creepy about Tony setting up a hotel rendezvous for the express purpose of having sex - everything is planned and that kind of takes the romance away. It's not like they were lovers already and planning a trip. This is like a planned booty call. I used to have trouble telling the difference between Tony and Charles because physically they look like the same but personality-wise they are worlds apart.

I think Mr. Drew really does care about her. Maybe that 'spark' his wife sees is there though it will never be acted on. It also is good for him to be working with the family. But I do feel for Mrs. Drew. She thought they were getting a child to raise. She loves the girl. She might even suspect that the girl was Edith's daughter. My guess would be she things the father is the husband.
And that photo... Her bringing in a 'child of a friend' needing care of the right age isn't hard to add 2 and 2 and get four.
If the family figured it out, would they want Marigold raised at the Abbey alone with George and Sibby?

I was afraid that Mr. Drew's wife would suspect he was the father of Edith's baby, but I don't think that is the case. The wife suspects that Edith is the mother, but that her husband was probably helping her in some way, and she must notice that there is extra money to take care of the little girl and it has a source.
The family would never accept Marigold to be openly acknowledged as a grandchild and living at the Abbey. Both George's and Sibby's parents were married at the time of their births. It is cruel but in Lord and Lady Grantham's world, Marigold is illegitimate and would not be accepted. Cora wouldn't care, but Robert and Violet would, though even they would consider having Marigold live there, but not to be acknowledged as part of the family, but some made up relationship like the orphan of a friend or distant relation that no one ever heard of.
I think it is just a matter of time now before the secret gets out anyway - the picture said it all. Under the pillow? And, when Marigold comes around to the Abbey for her visits...?

Charles and Mary had possibility as an interesting couple; Tony and Mary are snoozeworthy. I think Mary chose Tony because he seems safe, conventional, totally of her world. Hope she comes to her senses and gives Charles another chance.
Funny how the main characters don't seem to have aged over 10+ years!
