What IS the Guilded Age? Anyone know without looking it up?
Or Gilded Age...
I am probably wrong but knowing the meaning of "gilded", I would think it meant an age where lots of things were gilded in gold. That's just my logical answer.
Reaching back into the recesses of my memories of high school American History, I do remember that the Gilded Age was toward the end of the 19th Century. I don't recall why it was called such, but I seem to have recollection of it being an ironic or pejorative term.
It could be very interesting if it were somehow related to the Levinson family. Young pre-marriage Cora? Probably too much to wish for.
As a sidebar, I'm VERY excited that I just booked my NYC trip next month, and plan to see the Downton Abbey Exhibition. Has anyone been?
