DA's accessibility for a 21st century audience trumps veracity.

Its going to be interesting how the family reacts to Edith's decision to go to London with her child unmarried. Will they exclude her from the family? Social change or not, it was still a very shocking thing then.

The show has become far more interesting since Mary dumped Gillingham.

Mary was rather nasty to Edith. I also think Edith has been horrible to the farmer and his family; she turned their lives upside down and then tore that baby, who the mother especially had come to love, from them. She should have adopted the child from infancy, braved her family's displeasure, and not put another mother through such misery.
Poor Isis. I have one midling aged dog now and one who's five and a pup, but had to end it kindly for my 17 year old beagle a couple of years ago. I still miss her but she was ready. I was sad but she was suffering. I'll think of her when Isis passes on to the green pastures to run free. But I'll be very sad for Robert who's lost his best friend.

I think Mary's problem with Edith is she sees her as weak and uncaring. Mary at least insisted on 'protection' when she tried out Gillingham. Mary is perfectly willing to break the rules, but does it carefully.

Loved her new hair do! Is it me or is she flashing Charles in Gillingham's face and he'd flashing whathername.

I loved the way Cora "ordered" Robert back to the marriage bed. LOL I also am not looking forward to Isis dying. We had a sick dog and after 16 years, we had to put her down. A very sad day! I am going to enjoy Isobel marrying. I really don't want Tom and Sibie to move to America. I also think that Bates will not be charged, that is an old story.

Our daughter got us watching DA at the beginning of Season 3. We bought the first two season videos to get caught up. I do enjoy it as I am a Anglophile even though my family is Irish. LOL

I always wondered what she signed up for - she never read the paperwork. The family still doesn't know he was married - only Matthew did (and of course Edith) - and he's dead... hmmmm.....
The reason I always knew it was not Bates who killed Greene was the fact that since Bates had been the subject of the protracted murder trial and imprisoned for it previously - it would be ludicrous to repeat that storyline all over again. Too predictable - and too soon to involve Bates in that stuff again. Plus, I think he more than proved himself an honest man who may be several things - but not the murdering type, IMHO!!!
Where is the wife? If she is in Germany, and mentally ill and confined, her days are numbered. The earliest eliminated by the Nazi's were the mentally ill or disabled. It could also be argued that the wife was not capable of running the business as she was confined and not responsible.

I'd think that as they might have assumed him dead the legality of the will would have already been verified.

I loved the bit where they are discussing the building plans, where Robert wants to upgrade the older houses since he doesn't like that people are living in them the way they are, and its Tom who mentions they'd make more money from the new build.

Michael's wife Lizzy is in an English asylum. Under English law, he could not divorce her because "she cannot be held responsible for simply being a lunatic; she is neither guilty or innocent." He could, however, divorce her under German law if he were a German citizen, So he went to Germany to establish residency, become a German citizen, and divorce Lizzy.

He loved Edith that much!

Violet probably had never been served tea in a cup like the one Prince Kuragin offered her, and without a saucer to boot! I noticed that she held it like it was poison and never drank any of it. Of course, she was distracted by a man who was telling her that he loved he more than is wife, "even this afternoon."

Spratt and Drinker are set to deliver more comic relief. I thought that was Molesley's job.

Anna never explained to Bates why Mary needed the contraception device. Anna's relieved Bates didn't murder Green, but Bates still is suspicious why Mary would have needed to use it. Since Mary had a trial run with Gillingham, I wonder if she'll do the same with Blake.

Now that Mrs. Hughes knows a little of Baxter's story, I wonder if she'll learn the whole story, including Thomas' plan to blackmail Baxter into spying on the family.

Cute how the French hairdresser lost his accent when Mary was out of earshot.

Strange that Mrs. Hughes and Mary didn't realize that the ticket they found in Bates' coat pocket was not torn and thus unused. Both of them have told the police they had no information on where Mr. Bates was that day. Their credibility will be suspect if they come forward now. Bates could be in big trouble.

Poor Edith has no one in the family to count on to love her except Marigold. If she told anyone her story, it would be Tom. Tom is the only family member to accept her as she is, but even they don't appear to be close. It's still odd to me that she was gone 8 months and no one was interested enough to be suspicious other than Violet.

Robert tended to avoid the children when they came down for their daily audience with the family. It seemed out of character for him to be the one to hold Sybbie during the race.

Anna was there when Violet told the chauffeur to take her to Yew Tree Farm. I wonder if this will cause Anna to find out more about what was going on with the Drewes.

So Carson wants to invest in property with Mrs. Hughes for their retirement. That was the strangest proposal I've ever heard.

I forgot to say "Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish" to Miss Bunting. I hope she never comes back. Her socialistic ideas are one thing but her rudeness to her host is another! I would like to see Jimmy return .

Edith has been dumped on the entire series. Poor, hapless, Edith. Unlucky in everything she does because she's the ugly sister...

Yes, she has clearly shown herself to be the smartest in the family and in many ways, the most modern and willing to take risks. She is probably most prepared to become an independent woman able to support herself and her daughter. I think showing that has been in the works for the past season or two, especially when Gregson signed over his Powers of Attorney to her.
