Yes. That was the end of season 1.

Good news!

Quote:
Sunday's season two premiere of the hit series on "Masterpiece" averaged 4.2 million viewers, PBS said Tuesday -- doubling the primetime average for PBS, and exceeding the average season one numbers for the series by 18 percent.

"Downtown Abbey" premiere doubles PBS average with 4.2 million - Yahoo! omg! (http://omg.yahoo.com/news/downtown-abbey-premiere-doubles-pbs-average-4-2-005056629.html - broken link)
I don't know what happens in season two, and if a season three is even possible - but I hope so! I can see following these characters, and the house, for years to come. Even after they settle the Mary and Matthew romance, and the entail, and all the other current questions, I can see the series continuing. It definitely takes place during a fascinating time in our history!

That's ridiculous.
I'll have to order the UK DVD. Thank goodness for a mult-region DVD player.

Why? Because unlike Hollywood actresses, she has declined to go under the knife and has instead decided to age naturally and gracefully!
I think she's still beautiful for a woman of her age.

Maggie Smith (and most British actresses) should be applauded for this. They are able to look natural when the play roles requiring women "of a particular age" instead of being all snatched up and pulled back like American actresses "of a particular age".

I don't know what's going on. I tried to DVR S2 epi1 and it keeps starting........not at the beginning.
No "THis is Masterpiece theater" no little catch up vinette, just starts on Mr. Bates talking to his blackmailing wife.
I'll try again. Otherwise it'll be a a year before its on Netflix. Curious, why isn't this on BBCA?

Oh, it was on so I rewound to the beginning, watching a 'live' rerun - Yay!

It wasn’t meant as criticism. It’s just so rare that you get to see any human being change so dramatically over time.
