This has never been a true dance contest but an entertainment show with the results based on emotions and fan base.
Amen. I dont think anyone at DWTS really presents it solely as a dancing competition. If it were, the judges' scores alone would suffice and there'd be no need for voting.
The purpose of the show is to make $$$ through advertising. Period. If DWTS can get stars who are controversial (like Kate last year), they make more $$$ because more people watch -- especially those who declare, on internet forums, that they'll never watch the show again .
DWTS has repeatedly refused to publicize how the final scores are calculated: what percentage the judges' scores comprise and what percentage the votes comprise. I suspect that's because the calculation changes from season to season -- and maybe even from week to week. There's a reason that Kate stayed so long last season...she generated a lot of water-cooler buzz, which translated into a lot of advertising. And Nancy and Chaz will probably stay around a lot longer than most people think they should because of the same reason.
So there's no sense in getting all up in arms about the voting and about who gets booted each week. No one promised that the results would be "fair". Just ask Mario Lopez; he's probably still grousing about his loss.

Bravo my friend!! Excellent,excellent post.
No need at all in freaking about the eliminations NOR the winner. Not like they win anything but bragging rights anyway. Best to just sit back, enjoy each episode and not expect any more or any less.....
On the Nancy Grace Show, they ask people to vote for Nancy.

Nancy is no different than any other contestant.
For quality of dance, Chynna Phillips should win. She is graceful and has a dancer's form and style.
JR is a good and likeable guy and his story is terribly emotional, he's a good enough dancer, but no one should win based on people's emotions.
I will say this - I thought it would be a mistake for Chaz to be on the show, just because of all the debate about the gay/transgender topic. But I honestly believe, beyond any doubt, that it's about a genetic/hormonal issue, and I don't know why anyone would be angry or demean him for something he clearly could not help. If you ever saw Chastity on the Sonny & Cher show, you would understand. Each week he's been on dancing, I tend to hope he gets through to the next round . . . not sure why, there's just something about him that seems kind of sad. He grew up privileged, I have no idea what kind of character he has, I hate those filthy tattoos and he is far too overweight, but there's something sad about him. Perhaps it was Sonny's total disapproval (which, as a parent, he had a right to feel although I don't think he understood the genetics), perhaps it's that his mother is Cher, perhaps it's his own confusion and self-esteem issues . . . he just seems sad.
Nancy Grace should have been booted - she is neither likeable nor a good dancer.
He doesn't look like either Sonny or Cher...at all. Not in the old pictures either.
