If you are not for statehood and are for independence like you have stated here forever then that makes you Anti-Statehood. The definition of anti is opposed, against. Again, you independentistas play a lot with words and change definitions a lot.

In Puerto Rico the independentistas try to avoid the word "independence" because it's bad for politics and votes so they use words like sovereignty, self government, free association so the public doesn't think of "La Republica" Most of them are intellectuals from the Puerto Rico Universities so they know how to manipulate words with poems.

you are welcome very much.
why not anti-ELA? why is it anti what you like? why are you always the victim? im not your mean spanish teacher.

No, you are not a teacher. If you were you would know what synonym means and wouldn't make yourself look silly. You being pro independence and anti-statehood is the same thing. Unless you are for all choices or none of the choices which you need a doctor not a teacher.

and yes, if you are pro independence you are anti-ELA and anti-Statehood even though many independentistas vote for the ELA party to be in power or get a government job like San Juan Mayor, Carmen Yulin and many others. Hates the ELA but joins that party to be in power. Just like independentistas that live in the states and love the American dollar and capitalism but are anti-statehood (you hate the word anti) and socialists in the computer. It's all funny to me.

I'm not a victim. I'm not a "cuponero" or begging for government handouts with a cup or play identity politics (sounds familiar) or blame the American government in how bad they treat Puerto Rico and life is not fair. You got the wrong guy. Like the saying in Puerto Rico goes, "El Ladron juzga por su condicion"

keep guessing but I know who you are. I have you riled up for getting personal and getting off topic. You are the grown up that call yourself an independentista, living in the states but don't want people calling you anti-statehood and make a big deal about a word and then come here and say the reason you are for independence for Puerto Rico is because you took American Civics but you don't live there. Independentista from your couch in U.S.A. That is funny.

Statehood , once thought as the only way out for Puerto Rico had run into very serious problems, not on the island but within the Republican Party.

If Puerto Rico was ever given statehood, congress would have to give the island more state representatives than 20 white states. I mention white, because whites will loose their political power by 2045, when minorities will reach majority status.

As the Puerto Rican economy collapsed , due to globalization, and the loss of tax free federal status, Statehood feelings grew, not because of a love of the United States but because feeling terrified of being cast off in an ocean full of sharks. Being a dependent colony for 121 years has destroyed all skills on how to take care of ourselves. That’s why a reliance on Federal funds and a massive dependency, seems to be why the statehood desire has exploded since the 1980s.

All options has serious obstacles. You independence option is the worst one and you are 100 years late to push independence. Your ideology has NO political power, no army and you have a constitutional crisis by trying taking away U.S. Citizenship against the people's will. You can't have an independent country with a foreign citizenship but keep ignoring these facts and just focus on statehood and your obsession with Republicans and white skin. Yeah, your answer is, "negotiate" for independence. Negotiate with who and with what you will bring to the table? No political power and no army and no economic force ($$$$). Why with the U.S. who holds all the cards and have been paying the bills since 1898 will listen to a losing side with no leverage? the people are against you, no army and no economic force to force the U.S. to sit down and accept any of your demands.

The U.S. has the best economy and production in the history of the world. Of course, a small island of 130 x 35 miles that are 1,150 miles away that are under their jurisdiction will be dependent on them, duh!. You make it sound that is bad which is natural and globalism. Small fish will ride the tail of the big fish. This myth that small countries can make it on their own is laughable. The U.S. economy is set up that countries underneath them depends on their economy. Castro thought otherwise and look at what happened to them. You think if Wall Street collapses with the U.S. dollar many countries won't feel it? Like the saying goes, if the U.S. sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold.

You don't put things under perspective and write nonsense. Puerto Rico has benefited greatly under the American flag. Just compared Puerto Rico under Spain for 400 years to Puerto Rico 122 years under the U.S. and you tell me Puerto Rico hasn't seen progress or learned skills? LMAO!

Puerto Rico has a higher GDP than Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Cuba, Venezuela, Panama, Uruguay, Palau, and the Marshal Islands. Puerto Rico has a higher per capita than all Latin countries including the big ones like Mexico, Argentina and Chile and Spain. You don't think being under the American flag has a lot to do with that? and you want to take 3 steps backwards and join the pack below? LOL

PR doesn't ask for independence because every PR would be treated like a mexican or central american at the MAGA wall or swim like a cuban refugee.

US would also have to start importing Don Q's coconut rum.

Puertorricans don’t decide the NATIONAL INTERESTS of the United States. If 100% of Puerto Rican’s vote for statehood, will the U.S., as the most democratic nation in the universe comply?

Politics is not that simple.

One thing about the Trump years is that it’s brought out an American nationalism not seen since the beginning of the last century. The specter of loosing white power in a quickly browning America is something most people only talk about behind closed doors.

No one knows that a puerto Rican state will have more representatives than 20 white states. Most likely these representatives will be for the Democratic Party, the party that gives out welfare.

How will adding a Hispanic state in which 80% of the people don’t speak English and a great portion are on welfare, plus being bankrupt, be in the BEST INTEREST of the United States, specially the Republican Party?

The wicked witch of the west, A.k.a. AOC and Nydia Velázquez have presented a bill to start NEGOCIATIONS on Puerto Rico for the coming 2021.

Congress needs to spell out if statehood is posible. If so, under what conditions? Will English be mandatory or will Washington copy Canada with Quebec? No one knows.

Is Washington willing to offer a status like it has with its Pacific territories ?

No one knows until NEGOCIATIONS are begun.

Stop it. You write so much nonsense. NO state alone decides the NATIONAL INTERESTS of the United States. The fate of Puerto Rico was decided over 100 years ago when the federal government decided to make Puerto Rico a territory and extend the constitution and federal laws in the island and give them all U.S. Citizenship. You weren't even born. That was the short window for Puerto Rico to reject it and demand independence but they didn't and that's history. They made their bed and now sleep in it.

Your TDS gets worse by the day. Trump's nationalism which is not any different than the nationalism of Latin countries is to put the interests of the country and people first, above the interests of other countries and multinational corporations. It has NOTHING to do with race or color. America first, just like saying Mexico first, Chile first, China first if you live there, its a counterpoint to globalism and outsourcing. That nationalism that exist in Puerto Rico (I lived there) existed way before I was born. Name 1 law or economic plan passed by Trump that benefits one race over another? tell me as a Latino, that you are, what rights or economic benefits you lost under Trump? did he raised your taxes for being brown?

Nationalism to put the workers of your country first above anything is what every country does. It has nothing to do with color. You are a nationalist in the worst way by your identity politics.

AOC and Nydia Velázquez have presented a bill to start NEGOCIATIONS on Puerto Rico for the coming 2021????? LMAO!!!! Negotiate what? Anybody in the house can write a bill. It's another thing that it will make out of the house and make it in the Senate. Over 10,000 bills are written in Congress and about 5% becomes law. Thank you for our divisions of power and not making it easy to make any bill a law. The founding fathers were smart.

Excuse me, I'm going to "negotiate" the money that I own Direct TV and power company. It's that time of the month.
