PBS recently started airing the show Sherlock, which is an updated version of Sherlock Holmes set in today's London. Very entertaining. I don't know if it is an actual show or just a limited series, but it is very good.
Sherlock is a new show and has gone down very well with critics and audience alike. From what I gather it's going down pretty well in America too. Amongst critics anyway. Sherlock is a BBC drama. Sherlock (TV Series 2010–*) - IMDb
great thread, and maybe you can help me with this. I've been endlessly looking for a British TV series I sometimes watched when I was at school, circa 1991 or 1992, or maybe later. It was about a teenager (I think his name was Peter?) whose father was an alcoholic and whose mother was always on some antidepressant or something. They lived in a working class neighbourhood in East London, in a small house with a small backyard. I think he supported West Ham United (but I'm not sure). He had a little sister and his school friends included a black boy who was his best friend, a chubby girl (with absolutely no self-esteem problems and with a very active sex life) and a wannabe model that he fancied (and she, of course, did not return his feelings).
Does it ring a bell? I remember I had a good time watching it, it was refreshing because it seemed to me much less patronizing than your average teen series and with a dark sense of humour which I've always loved in most British series.
I just rec'd this one, will let you know how I liked it.
