I checked out your thread on the tv forum and am glad to say that I have one that no one has mentioned. It is The Duchess of Duke Street. I believe it was made sometime in the early 80s or there abouts. If you google it you might get a better description of the story line than what I could say. But needles to say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! I love costume dramas and this one was wonderful!

I am originally from the UK, I noticed someone recommended Cracker starring robbie Coltrane, this was a fantastic series, so well written.
If you watched and liked Cracker, something else I would highly recommend; if you want a really well written gritty drama, watch Wallander. I noticed recently it showing on a US channel.

Thanks, I haven't been here for awhile, I saw a preview of "The Duchess of Duke Street" so I had to buy it, I should have it end of week or early next week.
Yes I love Bobby Coltrane and will check out Wallander.

Like Helen Mirrens work also. Try The Queen and Calender Girls.... both worth a look.
If you like Helen Mirren, try the film Red. It's on Netflix.
We love watching British Comedies. Lately we're really into the Catherine Tate show! Ab Fab is also one of my all-time favorites. Red Dwarf is also lots of fun if you like shows involving outer space and aliens and smegheads.
I would highly recommend 'North & South' with Richard Armitage in it. It's adaptation from Elizabeth Gaskell's classic book of the same title. She's also the author of Cranford, Wives and Daughters (to name a few). All of which have been adapted to TV series and all were well done.
McCallum - starring John Hannah, currently starring in "Spartacus..." on Starz
Rebus - also originally starring John Hannah and continuing with Ken Stott, I much preferred the eps with John Hannah
Crime Traveller - an odd but endearing series
Midsomer Murders with the inestimable John Nettles - there are sooooo many of these
Also, The State Within - starring Jason Isaacs, Ben Daniels (recently seen in Law & Order: UK) Sharon Gless and others. Absolutely mesmerizing. Found it on netflix.
