You’re telling me that before man and his burning of fossil fuels, that the weather was always right at normal or close to it?

I'd buy less frozen waters in the Arctic is a cause. Polar Vortex was in Quebec last week. Too many pieces involved to put 1 reason on a pattern. And please look at weather history to see what other dates had a pattern in question and ask yourself if it was because of a "change" then too.

Right, but the record broken is a record for this time of year, not just the day. Usually the coldest extremes are at the beginning of the month. Here is the coldest 40 April temps at 5000'. Notice the day, usually beginning of the month in spring. That -16 is impressive for the 12th. But it's never been -10C after the 14th, this time we hit it on the 22nd. Late for this extreme

I also see 2016, 2018, 2020 is on there. Just goes to show how April (& March) has been recently. #ArcticBlasts

It's going to feel like a blast furnace here in Phoenix in the coming days

Awful pattern for the eastern 2/3rds that will continue until at least the first week of May

However if the precip pattern continues that might mean more heat for the plains and Central US down the road as the soil moisture levels are now starting to really dry out

Could be. And if that’s the case your location could very well become a tundra or an ice cap climate while the Midwest becomes a subarctic climate. So let’s hope this would happen even without climate change.

No. For the areas that don’t get the spring and summer rains they usually do, in this case I was referring to the Midwest
