I know that evry summer I think iot is bad but the winter when it gets cold is really depressing. My family being frm the NE ;when I am there i the winter ;it is like they just hunker down. i can't really take being indoors that much. I am use to the moths from october to early june being outdoor weather.
I agree. That is exactly why I dont like winters. Im not cool with the whole "hunker down" mentality that you have to portray during winter. It's like you're a bear hibernating, BUT you only come out when you have to go to work or school. Winter is just dipressing soooo boring to me. Like I said before if you live in the mountains where you can snowboard or ski winter must be lovely I guess, BUT when you live in an urban setting it can get quite boring and disruptive when you have school or work. You never hear that it's too hot that the roads are dangerous. But you do hear ice on roads.

You can easily do some winter hiking along city trails if you buy a pair of snowshoes. It is great exercise. You can do snowshoeing a lot here in up north because the snow stays on the ground for several months at a time usually...

Funny, this is how I feel about summer. It's too hot, at least in Houston, for me to do anything outside. This is depressing to me. Of course we don't have a real winter in Houston, maybe I would feel different if we did.

Do you ever try going outdoors after dark, or before sunrise?
Do you need to be asleep at night and awake all day?

You mean in the summer? It's still way too humid in the summer, even after dark, the only good thing is you don't have the sun beating down on you after dark.

Yes, I meant in Houston's summer.
I know it won't do much for the humidity,
but doesn't it feel nice when the extra heat is lost from all the sunheated objects?
(so you also don't have reflected heat or hot pavement)
When I'm not too busy,
I try to get outside between 10 am and 3 pm on sunny days (rare)
even if the temperature is nasty.
(because we can go months without a single nice day)
Or when it's dark and overcast,
I'll wait until midday so its (hopefully) as warm as it will get.
(or watch the hourly forecasts to find the warmest hour)

I'm enjoying being outside right now, highs in the 50's, lows 30's all week and maybe even 20's Fri night!!!!

A little chilly for my tastes,
yet that would be a welcome respite from typical winter 1000-hour deep freezes.
50's F in the day, 30's F at night...
That's like our daily-record "warmth" this time of year.
